I hear ya. My dad was born 9/28/37, but acts way younger. But not so young that he's in diapers.

My dad would have turned 80 on January 24th.

We visited his gravesite that day.

Sigh.

My dad is 71. He looks/acts much younger. People are amazed at his age due to his physical condition and appearance. He's in great health, takes no medications and still enjoys working & bitching at me like I'm ten years old!

He's truly my best friend & I can't imagine not having him in my life on a daily basis.

My dad has been decrepit for some time. He's still an unpleasant person, though.

His second bypass surgery mellowed him out a bit, but he still teases my Mother, and says nasty things to me.

Which is why I have communicated with him only by e-mail for the past 7 years. (I visited in person once during that time. Still nasty.)

So, I honestly don't know how I feel about him getting older. Execpt that it makes me more aware of the fact that I am getting older.

I'm middle aged! If I had children, they would be college age. jeez.

This does weird me out to think about. I'm almost 42 and some of my high school friends are already putting their kids through college.

I don't understand why people have hangups about age, or getting older. I have a brother who's three years younger than me, who talks like he's 20 years older.

I have no problem with getting older, considering the alternative.

I'm not saying I have a problem with it, it just gets weird sometimes. I have noticed that, the older you get, the more you can get away with.

My dad will be 63 next month. He was surprised that I was 40 on my last birthday. What freaks me out is that I was college freshman when he was 40 - my little boy will be 3 this summer.

My uncle turns 70 in May and I know what you mean--it's scary to think of parents/relatives that you always thought of as being 'young' getting older.

He's in great health--a very young 70. 3 years ago he bought a RV, 2 years ago he bought a Honda motorcycle, has a 2nd home in Florida, and is super active and sharp minded.

Anyone have any ideas for age 70ish related gag gifts/sentimental gifts for when the birthday rolls around?
