I've been landline free for about six years and wouldn't have it any other way. I have Sprint, primarily because most of the people I know also have Sprint and I get free calls to them. Saves me a bunch of airtime each month.

I have had a cell phone for about 7 or 8 years now. I currently have a Razr from T-Mobile. Love the phone, and the service is pretty good as well.

I would be, too, if I didn't need a fax. Those "fax by email" services cost more per month than a land line.

Only have a cell phone, no land line. I didn't get my first cell until about 5 years ago (I'm 32), as I didn't really see the need. Now it's the only way to get a hold of me.

I use a Motorola RAZR, on Verizon.
My wife and I have a family plan where we share the minutes. Our total bill is about $65/month.
The only reason we still have a land line is for Dish Network downloads.

It was probably back in 93-94 that I first started looking at cell phones.

I couldn't get past the idea that you had to pay for incoming calls. That was a deal breaker for me.

But even then, you could get a free phone. Of course, it was a BAG phone - you know, the phone so small you could carry it in a bag slung over your shoulder!

I barely even answer my landline--I figure if you're calling there, it's because you don't know me well enough to have my cell number. I only keep the landline for the rare times that my 9 year old is home on his own (if I go across the street to the store, etc.) He wants a cell, and it would be cheaper to just add him onto the family plan, but somehow I think he should be older.

I have the Fusic, from Sprint. As a supervisor for a wireless department, I get the best kind of discount - no bill. The service has been very good for me, although I've heard others complain.

I've kept my land line too, mainly because I have a really nice, expensive phone and it would be stupid to not have the use of it. If the phone craps out, the land line is history.

I've had a cell since 2005. It took me forever but I finally caved and don't regret it. I'll get rid of the landline when I move away from roomie next summer.

I've had one since 1985. Back then it was $1000 for the phone plus $300 for the installation. You paid a monthly plus minutes. It had a slight discount for off-peak but no freebie minutes, local calling only, no multi-phone discounts nothing. Back then I was in construction equipment sales, so the sites I was going to had no phone. Very handy but I was running $200+ in 1985 dollars.

I have two, one work makes me carry and the other is my personal phone. I choose not to use my work phone for personal business.

I pay about $12 month for my personal phone and usually never have more than 5 minute phone calls on it here and there. I hate cell phones.

If I didn't have kids, I probably wouldn't have the personal one. There have been a few times where it has been really convenient where they are invovled.

I also agree it is nice when you car breaks down. I once had a rental car die on me in the middle of bumfuck Alabama, I was really shocked that I could get signal where I was (ever heard of Boaz?), but I am really glad I could and did and got a tow truck to come get me.

I also tend to use it more on vacation that anything else. Hotel charges outrageous fees to 'connect the call' for evey call you make these days. If family needs to get me for any reason, the cell is a lot more convenient than trying to explain to my old parents what hotel to call and what room number I am in.

For the 5-6 times a year I actually need one, it is worth the $12/month to me (that plan has really limited minutes, but I don't care) I think I use about 2 hours of airtime a year.

I have a cellphone and I've seriously thought about ditching the landline since I hardly ever use it and since I'm paying $20 - $35 a month for it to basically be on standby. The only reason I have one now after not having one for a few years is because an ex got one of those B1G1 free deals at Verizon so she hooked me up and I got my own plan.

Only about 3 people have my Cell # and of the 3 it seems we Text more than call. I have a LG V9800 with a kwerty keyboard so texting is pretty painless on my end.

I have the LG chocolate, I got it the day it came out, I am not sure if I am happy with it, a bunch of things could be improved, and believe it or not I never use it to listen to mp3s.

I've had one for a few years. I like never being out of touch in case of emergencies. Still have the land line though.

One strange habit I have, when I text message. I never abbreviate words. I type out complete sentences, with correct grammar and punctuation.

Nope, never wanted one. I always hated the idea of people trying to bug me when I'm not home.

I don't know what to vote.
I have one, and I am past "college age" but I am still in college (grad school).
I have had one since about 1996, when it was about $1/min.
Now I am with Verizon because they are the only ones with some coverage at my house.
