My Dad Died

After dealing with tumors and bone cancer, my Dad finally lost his 5 year battle earlier yesterday morning.

He had fallen into a coma, and slowly his vital signs begin to fade. He was only 56 years old.

I'm trying to be strong about it, I was his only son. I have never had anyone close to me die before.

I am going down to the mortuary to sign the papers tomorrow. I posted a thread about him having cancer awhile back (maybe 2 years ago), but couldn't find it.

May he rest in peace. I miss him so much.

Very sorry to hear that, I lost my dad when he was 46 (died of a sudden heart attack). You never quite get over the loss but instead just learn to live with it.

Sorry about your loss. My dad died at 50 a few years back. Tough stuff to deal with I know. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear that, be strong... you know that's all he'd ever want.

My dad passed away 3 years ago (61 years young). I miss him tremendously, sad to say, you never know what you have until it's gone. Sometimes this thing called life can really suck.

We are here for you!

Geez man, very sorry to hear that. Just know that he is no longer in pain and is at peace. He is never really gone as long as he lives in the hearts of his loved ones.

I'm very sorry to hear that. My father died somewhat unexpectedly when he was in the hospital for something else was being treated and tested and there were complications no one was expecting. The thing I miss most is that I was just a kid in the 7th grade and my dad was in the hospital for a blood clot and we all thought "it was just a matter of time until he's back home" and I regret not being there enough with him and being able to say or get a last "I love you" and "goodbye" in at the end, which was really difficult to deal with, but it takes time. I'm very sorry for your loss and best wishes getting through it.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Nick. At the least, he is no longer suffering.

I lost my dad at 54 to pancreatic cancer. He had it for 10 months. It's never easy on anyone, them or the family. Just make sure that you mourn his loss on your own terms and not anyone else's. My mom needed so much attention that I never got to deal with losing my dad.

Sorry for your loss. Losing a family member for the first time is a shock to your reality for awhile, but eventually you'll get your bearings back. It's a tuff time, but don't be afraid to grieve. Take care of yourself.
