related topic: Do you call other guys "bra"?

I rather find that annoying.

"Hey, bra, you want another beer?"

"Look, bra, you won't believe this sweet girl I picked up."

"No problem, bra"

GAAAA!!! Why does this happen?

Only Dog Chapman can do this. It's just plain silly for anyone else.

I know, Dog says it like, every other word practically. I kind of quit watching his show because of his overuse of the word.

I used to refer to buddies as "over-the-shoulder boulder holder" but that just took too long.

It's "brah", and it's slang for "frat boy".

Sadly, even as much as my wife wishes I looked anything like The Rock, it is not the case. I do not share his Samoan heritage. Miss you, bro.

Not true.

My ex wife's famly is from Hawaii and I've hung out at enough Hula shows, Competitions, and Hawaiian get togethers to knows the "Brah", short for "Bradah" which is "Hawaiian Pidgin" for "Brother" is a commonly used term of endearment.

"Hey Bra, you want Bee-ah?" = Hey brother you want a beer.
"Hey Bradah, the popolos got ree-dum" = Hey brother, the blacks have rythmn
"Hey Bra check out the Haole ovah dey-ah" = Hey brother check out the white person over there.

You hear it all the time when you hang out with Hawaiians. Especially if they've been drinking.

I would imagine some of the "Brah" usage comes from white kids who've co-opted the term in surfing circles and it spread from there.

No to the question. But this and the other topic brought up something that drives me crazy.

"guy"

as in "hey guy." "what's up guy"

Sure that is my gender but I have a goddamn name, fucking use it. Hell I'll take "man", "bra", "bro", or even "dude" over "guy." That is the lamest and most retarded uses of the word. What's even worse, one of my closest friends and a co-worker both insist on using it. Arghhh!
