Wesley Snipes Charged with Federal Tax Fraud

Stupid rich people bilking millions from the gubmint.

WASHINGTON - Movie actor
Wesley Snipes was indicted Tuesday on eight counts of tax fraud accusing him of bilking $12 million from the government in false refund claims.

Snipes, 44, also failed to file tax returns for six years, according to an indictment unsealed in Tampa, Fla.

Federal prosecutors said Snipes fraudulently claimed the refunds in 1996 and 1997. It also charged him with failure to file returns between 1999 and 2004.

According to the indictment, Snipes had his taxes prepared by accountants with a history of filing false returns to reap payments for their clients. As part of the deal, the indictment alleges, the firm, American Rights Litigators, would receive 20 percent of refunds from clients.

Snipes faces a maximum of 16 years in prison.

Cool. Maybe he'll need to do that UFC fight against Joe Rogan now to pay the bills.

Don't you have to have a job in order to owe taxes I'd say '97 is about right for the last time Snipes had a real career...

Choo choo! That's the sound of the Money Train leaving Snipesville. Now that his Hard Luck has reached a Boiling Point, I guess he doesn't need to be Waiting to Exhale anymore. I hope a proper trial happened; I like when White Men Can't Jump to conclusions over his financial status. Too bad his wealth is now going into Demolition. Man, that sucks. At this point, a long arduous personal journey is Unstoppable as his tax evasion status is Undisputed. Being in that court must've been like being stuck in a Jungle. Fever pitch is the phrase I would use to describe it.

Let's hope when he's in prison he gets someone nice, but not too nice. The Fan who treats him with respect would be nice, more than likely his cellmate will be someone who committed a Murder at 16. Hundred weeks is a long time to spend in jail, but it's only longer when your roomate expects a One Night Stand and you fear for yourself in the showers, not knowing when some ruffian will try to Waterdance on your Sugar Hill (seeing as how Wesley is the New Jack). City officials in his home in Florida were also going after him if I remember. I guess not paying taxes and then partying as a jaunty, rich Blade would lead to some problems.

I guess today we can say Liberty Stands Still as Wesley Snipes shared America's Dream of wealth and fortune and Streets of Gold. Unfortunately, he did Play It To The Bone rather foolishly and now he may see the Rising Sun only behind bars. Let's hope he has smart counsel and we don't hear from him in a week, caught by U.S. Marshalls Down in the Delta for trying to commit Disappearing Acts. That would put him in Critical Condition and that would be Too Wong.

They made 2 sequels of Blade. After Blade: Trinity, he has done about 7 direct-to-video films

He made 13 mil for Blade Trinity, but was suing the studio because they didn't pay him all of it.

that would explain why i see him on the covers of all these random dvds at blockbuster that i never heard of.

do those direct-to-dvd movies do well? seems like they would have a hard time making any money on them since no one rents them (and thats pretty much the only way they can make money).

Just when you thought he couldn't do anything worse than Direct-to-DVD he does Direct-to-Jail.

Maybe he'll do some research on a busting out of jail Direct-to-YouTube or whatever is next for him.

and more:

In 2002 a lawsuit in Florida was brought against Douglas Rosile, who allegedly helped 174 clients evade at least $29 million USD in taxes. One of his clients is the actor Wesley Snipes, who filed an amended return listing zero income and asking for a $7.4 million dollar refund. Snipes' original return reported $19.3 million in income. The government is currently investigating. He could face up to 16 years in prison.

So wait a second.

He filed a return with $19.3 million in income. Then later on sent one in and said, "Oh fuck, I messed up. I actually didn't make anymoney this year".

Bahahahah.

Wait a second, he made $19.3 million in income? HOW?

Probably a couple of direct to video movies where he nets a few million. Then, he's getting decent residuals on movies like Major League, Blade, etc...

I really have no idea. His movies from that time:

Blade (1998)
U.S. Marshals (1998)
The Art of War (2000)
Disappearing Acts (2000)
Liberty Stands Still (2002)
Blade II (2002)
Undisputed (2002)
Blade: Trinity (2004)

He had no movies released during 2001, so I wonder what would have been on his 2002 tax return.

I say fuck him. I'm still pissed at him for not being in Major League 2. Sure, he can make "The Fan" but Major League 2 was just too below him. Dick.
