The ONE & ONLY Halloween Costume Thread - Ideas, Pics, & Everything Else

I think all the costume threads are getting out of control so I'm starting this one as a condensed place to talk about it.

Recommendations, advice, photos, stories, etc. It's all welcome here! Come one, come all!

Go at it!

Feel free to merge the threads, in that case.

If I was a mod, I would! Maybe I shouldn't be doing the mods job without having mod powers!

I'm going as Ted...

All I'm looking for now are gray tube socks with 3 red stripes and I'm set. I'm not going to replicate the backside of the Van Halen 5150 tour shirt. Maybe I'll get a red backpack.. not sure yet.

I almost completed my costume in a day for under 40 bucks. Iím gonna be Will Eisnerís The Spirit.

On a lark I walked into Goodwill in Berkeley and POW!!: Midnight blue jacket, pants and red tie that fit. I got directions from the girl behind the counter as to where to get the cheapest fedora in town (gotta spray paint it blue) and found the goddamn place. Under $40 including the paint (procured from some auto parts place).

Iím STOKED! I was feeling depressed that I wasnít doing anything this Halloween. No ideas. money, time, etc. I had thought The Spirit would be a costume that Iíd be happy with, but figured: ďWhat are the chances of finding an affordable blue suit and fedora?Ē

Shit! I forgot to mention the classy white shirt Iím gonna put a knife or bloody bullet hole into ($4). Honestly, I could see wearing the red tie to work one day, so no creative machinations on that. ( The guys in Textile Weaponry would give me no end of shit on my smoke breaks)

I still havenít found acceptable mask or gloves. Still, this is a lot easier than the failed Lobster Johnson was. I spent $300 on that one and it never flew. (I do still wear the jacket and will one day give the boots to my niece).

I'm so happy that I'll "Sharpie" in the mask if'n I can't find find one made of cloth.

Me and Suprmallet are going to a party as Morticia and Gomez Addams.

The best part is that it won't take much work for either of us to look like the characters.

This will be the first time I've dressed up for Halloween in many years. I'm not big on the holiday, despite how I love Horror stuff. But that probably has to do with the whole "children continuously knocking at the door expecing candy, despite our lack of decorations or any lights turned on" thing...

I've posted my costume already, but I'm waiting on the wig to arrive in the mail. I'm going as Willy Wonka.

Here's the costume I have so far:

Anyone have any ideas on how to make a makeshift inexpensive fat suit? I'm thinking about going to a party as Peter Griffin, so I plan on picking up an oversized shirt and slacks. But I'm not big enough to fill it up, so I'll need to pad it some. I was thinking about cotton stuffing but I'm worried it will move around too much and not stay in one place. I also worry that if I use it to fill out the butt and the pants that it'll just fall out of the legs.

I may be Dog the Bounty Hunter. The costume store sells mullet wigs. Jeans, a vest and a badge around my neck with handcuffs. I am going ot stop shaving today for a Saturday party.

Please don't anyone ask what he's wearing under the kilt.
