Looking to get the big "V". How painful?

I am looking to get a vasectomy (sp?). How painful will it be? I am not looking forward to a doctor cutting at my bits and pieces but if the pain is minimal, I will move ever forward.

Sorry, I thought this was about going to Brazil for a sex-change operation.

For the best advice, search kvrdave and vacectomy in this forum!

Here it is:

The best advice is to use the kvrdave thread as a counterexample of what NOT to do.

I don't think it's too painful. Unless you buy the do-it-yourself kit.

I had one on Sept. 1st and it wasn't bad at all. The worst part was the lidocaine shot to numb my sack. I had some dull pain, but I did have sex less than 24 hours later, so I guess I wasn't hurting too badly I was bruised all to hell for about 2 weeks though.

Don't expect the doctor to actually explain what they mean by "ice your balls."

If I were to do it again, I wouldn't ice at all, just to be safe. It was not painful (the operation), so I wouldn't worry much. I find I am now a lot more...what's the word.....screw it....I'm a lot hornier than I was before. Don't know if that is because I know I am shooting blanks, or if frostbite actually has a delayed positive response.

Don't freak out from reading my example. I won the vacectomy lottery, and can't imagine that will ever happen to anyone else in the world.

Picture the worst possible genital agony. Imagine a rabid badger tearing at your willie. Sulfuric acid being poured on your sack. A million white-hot needles piercing you all at once. The pain of a vasectomy is considerably less than that.

How bad was the shot? I have had a cortizone shot behind the knee before. I would imagine it is not as bad as that, but what do I know.

If you think about it, (and I could be way off, "V" is not in my _ocabulary) from a biological/physiological standpoint, since the big "V" blocks the swimmers from leaving your tentacles, in theory that could relay a message to the brain that you are not currently sexually active, and thus resulting in the feeling of increased horniness. Just a theory

Dude - It's your bag!!!!! - they are trying to numb the groin muscle that lies approximatly 3 - 5 inches below - going through your nutbag. THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!

One thing to think about. Go to a Urologist to have it done, not a family practice doctor. While the FP likely will do it right, would you rather have someone that went to residency for 5+ years and specialized in that area of the body or someone that went to residency for 3 years and spent their time learning a little about everything (including a little about this procedure).

Well I hear that kvrdave has that disease where he doesn't feel pain. It's called being a badass. That kid on Grey's Anatomy was based on him. Actually, the whole Grey's Anatomy is based on his life as a super-hot doctor (as is Doogie Howser, MD, because he was a super-hot 16 year old genius doctor). That is, of course, until he got bored with being a doctor and decided to pursue slum-lording.

Being a doctor, I can see this. I have a sudden urge to shoot things.

Just so you know, this is the last guy that went to your doctor for his Vasectomy

Mine was done when I had my hernia operation so I didn't feel a thing. The hernia repair was killing me so anything else was unnoticable

Can't speak to pain involved, but if you have to go for it, might as well use this urologist.

The shot wasn't bad - just a burning sensation for about 10 seconds. I had the procedure done by my urologist. I asked how many he had done and he said "about 2000". I did keep ice packs on my cash and prizes for about a day and a half to help with swelling. Just put the ice pack between a jock strap and my undies and that seemed to work great. The worst part of the whole ordeal was being up on the table in stirrups. I looked like I was about to give birth.
