What do you call your Ice Cream topping?

I was remembering my very first job in The Ice Cream Shoppe and how everyone had a different name for the little toppings. They either called them sprinkles, shots or jimmies. Which do you use?

Jimmies I had never heard of. Is it a regionalism?

No sprinkles for me. My favorite is Vanilla bean ice cream, with hershey's chocolate syrup and planters dry roasted peanuts.

I call them sprinkles, but I've heard jimmies, too. Never heard of them being called shots.

My parents were both from NYC, so I guess they call them sprinkles there. I grew up outside of DC and there was a popular soft-serve ice cream place near me called Jimmy Cone, so I guess they call them jimmies there.

I don't like them, but we always called them sprinkles. The first time I heard them called jimmies was on some tv show.

I agree with my bro, no need to mess up good ice cream with some crappy topping. Where I grew up we called them jimmies.

I had a debate with a friend about this. I figured what better way than go to a grocery store and see what the packages say. I couldn't find any that called them Shots, and MOST called them Sprinkles, with a few labelled Jimmies.

I am in the Boston area, though. I'd assume the packages labelled Jimmies wouldn't be found in most of the rest of the country.

"jimmies" seems to be an East Coast thing.

Anyway, sprinkles don't go on ice cream. They go on frosted cupcakes.

Sprinkles. To call them "jimmies" sounds retarded.
