I am working tomorrow but I had 3 options.

1) Take day off with pay
2) Work it with regular pay and take another paid day off in October
3) Work my regular 8 hour shift and get paid $400 for the day. (triple time)

I am doing option 3

Should also note that here in Canada, it is our Thanksgiving. I do work for an American company so I will have American Thanksgiving off with pay as well as Black Friday. Gotta love 4 day weekends.

Sure don't. But I get the other days off that aren't federal holidays so it all works out.

I have to work tomorrow, but I don't mind. Instead of having a a bunch of "minor" holidays throughout the year, my employer has a "year-end shutdown", from Christmas to New Years.

Same here. We usually close a few days before Christmas.

Not me, but I have a brief that would otherwise need to be filed tomorrow. Since the courts are closed, I get an extra day to work on it.

I set my own schedule, so I could take tomorrow off if I wanted. I'll probably put in a few hours though.

I won't be working, and it's not a paid holiday.

I will be paying for full rate for day care even though they are closed.

Lucky you! I don't get it off, but that's alright since I'm taking Friday off anyway. Boss doesn't pay for ANY holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.

I do not get Columbus Day off, and I do not get paid extra for working it.

Fucking slackers, you should all get back to work.

Huh?

So that's what holiday my mother was referring to when she said a package was being sent here cuz it wouldn't be at their place before they visited due to the holiday.

Guess I don't.

But did they have a flag?

I'm sure someone will get that reference.

Anyway, it's a paid holiday for me but I'm working so I get paid for the holiday AND double time for the hours I work, which will probably be about 11 hours. So it's all good. I love working holidays for the money and because almost everyone else is not here. The only holidays I really want off is Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I am working for a few hours Christmas morning.

I didn't even know it CD until I saw it on the news about 30 minutes ago.
