There is only one panel. Does anyone understand?

Looks to me like a soldier (likely in Iraq) being photographed. Perhaps a comment on the media and the war.

Makes me think about how the images we see on TV or in the press make us think things are going a certain way, when in reality it might be different.

Not just a soldier -- that's B.D., isn't it? Maybe a PTSD reference?

For us "old schoolers" (see Zits) who still read the physical paper, the strip had to do with a weblog accessed from doonesbury.com. The one-panel thing probably has something to do with that and I'm guessing it was supposed to be a link to click on, hence the "clik clik clikity clik" - and maybe the link isn't working?

Thanks all. There is nothing more in the strip in my newspaper than online. I was trying to make sense of the reflection in his visor to figure out what he is looking at, but still no clue. Sometimes Doonesbury can be quite cryptic, but nothing like today. I'll go back to Garfield

hmm. that's a tough one. but my guess is that he is looking at a video camera / old style camera machine that's looking through something like a cannon.

but i don't know what the blue thing is at the bottom of the visor - the tint color?

edit: ok, maybe the cannon's more of a cone - tunnel vision?

It's Doonesbury. It is biting social commentary that makes you think, without actually being funny. So just do some deep thinking without laughing and you will have achieved what was intended.

Hmmm, Doonesbury huh? It's obviously a soldier trying to fire his weapon in orgasmic rage even though he's out of ammo after mowing down a bunch of innocent Iraqi's.

You mean the first panel? i thought he's just looking at the Iraqi skyline (reflected in visor) from the relative safety of his tent, then over to the "battle weary" reporter working on his laptop.

i'm with Trout. i miss C&H.

Have you ever read Doonesbury? The strip goes out of its way to present our soldiers as upright, honorable people.

To be honest, I don't find any comics in the Sunday paper worth reading, currently.
