I walked out on my boss today

He refused to listen to me, so I said "forget it" and I walked out of his office and came home, it was AFTER my shift ended

It was after your shift.. unless you were called into his office specifically for something and was talking about work related that needed to be done, etc or you were still on the clock, what's the big deal? If he wanted to, he could see you being insubordinant and possibly hold it against you.

While your shift being over means you didn't walk out on your job, you still responded somewhat unprofessionally unless he was verbally abusing you.

Frankly, I'd be more worried about my boss thinking I wasn't doing my job.

what is your job and why would he say that. I think at a minimum you might get written up.

stupid factory work,

basicaly it comes down to this

He says I'm not performing the required job, I asked him 4 or 5 times how I'm supposed to be in 4 places at once, If the machine I operate goes down while I'm cleaning up a mess I'm right back where I started with another mess, yet if I stay and watch the machine the mess doens't get cleaned up yet they won't get anyone to help

it's stupid but someone comes in at 6 and sets up the mchaines at gets off at 3 I come in at 7: get off at 4:30,it's not abd when 2 of us are there one can clena up while the other keeps an eye on the machine yet when they leave all hell breaks loose,

I need to go back to school and start a career instead of wasting away in a crap job, but I really don't what what I'd like to do.Perhaps I'll try getting into coaching

Man life sucks when you have a deadend mindless job, yeah being unemployed is worse but this sucks hardcore too

yeah, I'd be less concerned about walking out and more concerned about why he called you in to begin with. He probably didn't appreciate the attitude

I hope that turns out to be the case for you, but it sounds to me like this guy is after you anyway. I'd definitely start making some plans on what you want to do next. From the way you described the place, it doesn't sound like somewhere you really want to be at anyway, right?

But hey, I could be wrong...it may just wind up like "Office Space", and you're walking out today will get you promoted.

I know every situation is different but 99.9999999% of the time if the boss calls you in and tells you that you aren't doing your job most likely you aren't.

I hope you find something you like though.

I had an employee do that to me one time. They stormed out and slammed my door behind them while I was counseling them for chronic tardiness. What saved them from termination was coming back in, apologizing for the behavior and then showing they meant it by coming in on time.

Whether or not your boss is fair in his assessment, the true measurement of if you're doing your job or not is up to him. That's why it's always vital to have a boss/supervisor you see eye-to-eye with.

Why are you screwed if you lose this job? There must be something better out there for you.

Prepare yourself for at least a long lecture tomorrow. IF your boss wants you gone you just gave him a big helping hand and he will most likely try to goat you tomorrow in a meeting. You are going to have to keep your anger in check.

If you get a long lecture that may actually be a good thing. I only spend that much time talking to people that I feel want to improve. If I'm truly fed up with someone, I don't spend a lot of time trying to discuss the issues with them. Firing someone doesn't take long. This situation may be the time you find out if he really wants you gone or if he sees value in you.
