Yikes, I generated $385 in rake in September online. Good thing 88% of it came back to me!

Sounds like the run I've been on lately. Thursday night in the first hour I sat down I ran into 6 people flopping sets against me (and each time I happened to flop TPTK or something similar).

Yeah, I've been on a losing run the past couple months. After 25+ consecutive winning months, I had two losing months in a row (August & September), and October is not looking good so far either (down $100).

Here's a fun stat:

Last night I played about 500 hands of 1/2.

I was dealt AQ or AK 13 times.

I hit TPTK once.

And I wonder why I'm on a downward slide.

[Hand 2] Very next hand, I had AJo under the gun. This time I raise to $1.50. Only the BB calls. Flop is A-3-8. Check to me. I bet $2. He calls. Turn is A. He bets $2. I put him all-in for $5 more. He calls and shows 33. River doesn't help me.
Fold preflop (unless this was 6-max).

I re-raise to ~$20 to put him all in. He calls with Ad-4d, flush draw and a gut shot straight draw. River is Jd.
Five limpers? Raise more preflop. A lot more.

Normally, I would. But after the two frustrating hands, I wanted to slow play the KK to get some money back ... *sigh* ... yeah, I shouldn't let that affect my play, but it did.

Played this weekend for the first time in a couple of months and sat down with $50.

Bought that up quickly to $98 after a double up and proceed to lose it all on this hand.

$1/$2 NL. I am right before the button and all fold to me. I look down and see AQh. I raise to $7 and the SB hesitates and calls. The flop was Kh 4d 8h. I have position and the nut flush draw. SB checks and I make it $11 to go. Calls. Turn is the 4h, giving me the nut flush. The SB quickly goes all in. I didn't put him on KK, or I would have expected a reraise preflop. I call with the nut flush as he turns over quad 4's. Draw dead.

argh!

I think the golden rule for low limit NL is 4-5x big blind + 1 big blind for every limper.

So for your KK hand, raise to $2.25-2.50.

Interesting rule. I usually do 5-8x BB regardless of the number of limpers. Again, yeah, I let the previous play affect me. That should never happen, but I'm still not that good a player.

The main reason why I keep playing these low limits is so that I can teach myself more patience to play fewer cards. In Vegas or A.C., I usually play $2/$5 NL, and I can win/lose in a hurry.

Finally found some decent Omaha games. Took down a $10 tourney with 44 people and made $176. That actually put me at cashing in 70% of the Omaha tournies I have played.

Won't matter for most of you, but the Wildhouse Casino in Pendleton, OR is getting ready for their 10 days of poker tourney in Nov. I plan to go down and camp out a few days. $25 sat from 6am to 11 am, big tourney from 12 to 6 and $55 sats from 7 to 11 pm. Only one day of Omaha, but I'm there.

This fucking ban on poker is going to kill me. I'll have to move my play to the rock gardens at absolute or full tilt. I was paying my mortgage thanks to the action poker network (nine.com) and now that's all going bye bye.

I feel really bad for the people that were playing professionally online and supporting families with it.

That's what's bothered me the most throughout this. I play for some minor spending money and because I enjoy it but so many people play for their livelihood. I get so sad and frustrated seeing a stupid and pointless law put so many honest and hard working people in economic jeopardy.

But hey, at least we're protected from ourselves and won't ruin our own lives by blowing the family nest egg while gambling.

Unless we go to the horse track or buy lottery scratch-offs, that is.

Pull my 3rd Royal Flush today, first one in Omaha

Ended up 2nd.

Then played another tourney and had TTxx and we were down to the final 3 and I was big stack. Flop comes TTQ. The guy in front of me goes all in, so naturally I follow. If he could have used 3 cards, he would have had a royal flush, but got beat by my 4 of a kind. Then left the room with "Stupid ass Joker Stars"

Those people kill me.

I spent 10 hours in AC yesterday. Played only 1/2 NL HE at the Borgata. I almost got a royal flush, but I threw it away. I had Qd8d. I folded pre-flop.
Board: Ad Kd Td, 3c, Jd

I averaged $50/hour (you do the math). And I donated $100 to the casino at the tables (craps, roulette, BJ), but we got our $90 meal comped at Wolfgang Puck's (food was only average) so the $100 donation didn't feel as bad.

Was playing a $25 sit n go, cursing that for some reason I could never get to that level. When 4 were left, we were about even, but I had the least. Backed my way into the top 2 when the chip leader demolished the other two.

Top 2, I have 660, the other guy has 9,340. The blinds are 400/800. I jokingly say "Now it's time to begin my miraculous comeback." And I did. Took some luck (first hand I was all in by the blind and my 98 took down his QA) and him making some somewhat questionable all ins (43, off). But a sweet $125 hit me.

One thing I've wondered in the past couple days is when is it considered proper to check it down in a sit n go. There was one hand where 8 people were left, blinds at 20/40, a guy goes all in for 210, I call (hesitated, and couldn't raise preflop) There's another call. Flop hits Jxx, and I go all in. I get bitched at by the table, and especially the other guy, because he folded. A K hits on the turn, and that would have given him 2 kings. My QQ ended up holding.

I can understand bitching about shutting people out in a bubble situation, but with 8 people left, I can't really see why it's a big deal

I love the 180-man SNGs. It is enough to satisfy my MTT craving on days that I work, without having to stay up half the night. Plus the fields are super soft, with almost 2/3 of the field is gone by the first break.
