Anyone Feel Like Designing A Logo?

My fire department is in the process of coming up with a new logo. Currently it's a picture of a fire engine and that's it. So I'm hoping with all the talented artists on here someone could come up with a new fire logo I could take to my chief as a suggestion. The logo doesn't have to have anything in particular on it like a ladder or ax or hose but something that looks "professional" so to speak. Also since i'm out of station 2, it could have a number 2 involved somewhere if it fits. Thanks for any help.

What fire department are you in? I am a professional fire fighter, I have been on for over a year, just finished probationary period. Our academy class got shirts made up, we wanted a ton of colors and graphics, we ended up getting charged about $18 per shirt. Post some ideas you have.

A fire started on some grassland near a farm. The county fire department was called to put out the fire. The fire was more than the county fire department could handle. Someone suggested that a nearby volunteer bunch be called.

Despite some doubt that the volunteer outfit would be of any assistance, the call was made.

The volunteers arrived in a dilapidated old fire truck. They rumbled straight towards the fire, drove right into the middle of the flames and stopped!

The firemen jumped off the truck and frantically started spraying water in all directions. Soon they had snuffed out the center of the fire, breaking the blaze into two easily controlled parts.

Watching all this, the farmer was so impressed with the volunteer fire department's work and was so grateful that his farm had been spared, that right there on the spot he presented the volunteers with a check for $1,000. A local news reporter asked the volunteer fire captain what the department planned to do with the funds.

'That ought to be obvious,' he responded, wiping ashes off his coat. 'The first thing we're gonna do is get the brakes fixed on our fire truck!'

Get this across the back:

"The fireman has magical powers. If you rub his helmet, he'll spit in your eye."

I (and others) would probably be more willing to help you if you had an idea of what could actually be used. No one wants to spend time working on something that you show to your chief and gets shot down. ($0.02)

well, I guess that's what's good about this....the sky's pretty much the limit so far as in designing....any fire equipment can be utilized, fire truck, ladder, ax, hose, fire hydrant, or even animals, eagle...bugle, fireman....whatever's could be associated with fire services....

by the way, those are all great pictures you guys have submitted....i just about fell off my chair lauging my ass off....

one of our guys has an idea for 4 poker cards showing all four deuces splayed out in each suit (representing our station).....just for an idear, could someone draw that up with that maybe with flames in behind the cards.....maybe e pick axe's crossing each other behind the cards just to see what it looks like? ....kinda like the axe's in this picture below

[make a logo that] I could take to my chief as a suggestion
My point is that it's probably easier to get people to help you if what they were working on wasn't a suggestion, but what was going to be used.

i should clarify....this design is up to each invididual station so as long as majority rules (of course the pictures' gotta be appropriate), it doesn't matter what's on the actual logo b/c it's for casual wear not formal....hope that answered your question

They'll usually charge at least a couple hundred to do up a logo. At least.

Depends on the place. A lot of promotional-type places I've contacted have a "built-in" designer's fee which is usually $25 or $50. The designers have templates they use for a logo. I assume this is what phatboy wants.

Yep. That's how it works at the sign co. I design for. Unfortunately people forget about their sign until they are ready to open so they don't have time to spend working on a logo, just whatever can be knocked out the quickest. The design fee is included in the sign purchase.
