Does anyone remember what kind of gum this is?

My wife and I were talking about a kind of gum we used to get that came in little squares, was soft, and had gooey fillings like Spearmint and Cinnamon. It used to be pretty common, but I couldn't find it at Walgreen's tonight.

Any ideas?

I remember there was a "gooey filled' kind of gum that had soda flavors for the filling (Coke, Root Beer, Dr. Pepper, etc.). Very odd, but I loved it as a kid. Anyone remember what that was called?

That was my first thought after reading the OP, the Dr Pepper especially...the fresh-whatever rings no bells.

We used to call Freshen Up, erh uhm, "come gum" (only "come" was spelled differently).

Replace the gum with circular chocolate and you've got .

Oh, yeah ... it's Freshen-Up. Not sure if that was covered or not.

I also remember a gum just like what TF described and it was called Chewells but I haven't seen it in a store since the mid 80's.

There was also a gum called "Tidal Wave" or something similar that had the gooey center, but that was in the early-mid 80's.

Liquid-filled gum wasn't new. In the 1970s, Warner Lambert devised Freshen Up, a large wad of sugared gum with a liquid center. Later came Bubbaloo, an even bigger chunk of liquid-filled gum with bold flavors such as green apple and strawberry that kids loved.

Thanks for the answer. It's not available now, but there is a similar kind of gum made by Bubblicious.

Chewells [sp?] is what I remember. That was weird gum, the shell was almost crunchy then all of a sudden *squish*.
