Chaos amidst French Canadian guys playing Dungeons and Dragons

The subtitles are decent; this is for everyone who played D&D

*Warning* some mild make believe sodomy involved...

Man, that video really makes me hanker to play some Dungeons and Dragons. And maybe have some butt sex with a paladin.

I love that he had to roll the dice to see if he could wake up.

That level 1 thief showing up in a loincloth with his Bobba Fett helmet yelling for his friends to wait up had me in stitches

Can someone into gaming explain -- if your character gets killed in an adventure (as depicted here), do you have to start building a character all over?

Unless your buddy can take you to a local temple in time for them to cast a resurrection spell. Some campaigns cheat and have some kind of mechanism in place -- one high level D&D campaign I ran in actually had some sort of "cloning lab" in place, so if you died, your character could be resurrected automatically.

But unless the DM is a really nice guy... yeah, if you die, you have to start all over. Mind you, in D&D, a high level wizard would probably have enough magic items to make his armor class pretty respectable, even when asleep.

(Of course, if the DM secretly hates you... que serra serra...)

One of these days, I gotta tell you about some of the D&D games we used to play. We were a pretty wild bunch. Wizardlock on someones anus, for example...

And then, there was the Dreaded Sh*t Curse.

So if you choke your buddy in real life does that mean his character dies with him?

is that how D&D is really played? is someone always the guy who dictates the game and tells whats going on? where do the stories come from? or the enemies? do you just buy more cards and characters and stuff lke that? i dont get how they know what to do and what the roll of the dice means.

does the game ever end?

That's pretty much it. There is a dungeon master who guides the games. The scenarios are purchased, but can be made up as well. Charts, etc. tell what the dice need to be rolled based on your characters statistics, etc.

It doesn't ever end unless you go through puberty. Even then sometimes.

Think of it as a Choose Your Own Adventure book. The Dungeon Master = the author. It goes for as long as the author wants it to, or until the characters get themselves killed, etc.

The rulebooks and dice are just to provide a standard framework, to keep thing in check on what you can and can't do, and provide some strategy.

It's Make Believe, with rules so that you don't start fighting about what's fair.

We did it with nothing but dice and pencil and paper.

I understand that it serves the point of the joke, but I still don't understand what compelled him to fuck his friend up the ass.

It reminds me of like the dirty jokes that old guys tell, "Why did the bartender ask what the horse wanted to drink? Why didn't he just kick him out of the bar?"
