HELP ! Tips to DISGUISE your Voice on the Phone ?

Hi people, i've got a bit of a prank lined up for a mate.

I need to be able to disguise my voice so it's not recognisable even by a close friend.

I'm useless at accents.

Any tips for disguising your voice on the phone ?

Put a hankerchief over the mouthpiece. It's been working in movies for years!

Whisper loudly. It works. It's hard to even tell the gender of a voice like that.

edited to add: I'll expect a cut of the ransom money for that advice!

Have someone kick you in the balls right before you call. Your then high-pitched voice will do the trick.

Make the call using carefully chosen Arnold Schwarzeneggar clips.

"I'm a cop, you idiot!"

It won't make a difference how well you disguise your voice, the Secret Service traces all those calls.

Drill two small holes in your larynx. It will change the acoustics. (Just make sure to plug it back up when your mate's about or he might put two and two together when he hears your "new" voice.)

C'mon. Post your friend's phone number. I know that it's in Australia - doesn't matter, some of us will call him.

Get one of those cool electronic voice box things like Ned on South Park uses.

If you don't have to make it interactive, record into an audio program and edit.

Groucho made me laugh, though. One of my favorite quotes. Whenever someone asks me where I work, I spit that out first.

Just talk like a robot. No one will ever know if you're a robot or not. Brilliant!

I can think of 2 things you can do:

1. Talk in a glass, that will change your voice.
2. Get an apple, call and don't say anything--just eat the apple. Won't work if said friend has a caller ID.
