Kitty's wildlife safari trip

On Sunday we drove down to Winston, OR and went to the Wildlife Safari park. It's pretty lame and outdated but it was free (family member with a pass). It was hot and dry but we did get to see a lot of animals so that part was cool.

Camel at the front of the park

Our welcome wagon scared the daylights out of me and Daniel

Lions in love...

This female lion walked right behind us. She is huge but I still wanted to reach out and pet her.

Her hubby walked right in front of us.

Zebras...

Big-ass cows with big-ass horns.

This is all you could see of the bears.

I have more pictures to post but will have to get to them later.

I love that place! I've been there a few times. They have one of the only successful captivity cheetah breeding programs... I'm sure everyone wanted to know that!

Thanks for sharing your photos... very cool!

There's a herd of Buffalo at the park. They had no fear of people or their cars and would just stand in the middle of the road and stare at you.

Sound like a cool trip, hope you had fun, but where are the Otters?!?

I assume you stay in your car the whole time or the dangerous animals are separated from the people somehow?

Around Memorial Day, I went through the safari at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson NJ for the first time in at least 25 years. Lots of fun.

The big cats, bears, and baboons weren't walking freely among the cars as they did years ago. It's possible that the bears never did.

The giraffes and llamas came right up to the car. Probably because they're accustomed to people feeding them.

They had all these signs up that said "No feeding the animals". People did it anyway.

We used to have Lion Country Safari out in Orange County CA and when I went as a kid an Ostrich stuck its head in our window and grabbed a bag of chips. It was freaky and funny at the same time.

I was hoping this was going to open with: "It's a jungle down there."

I think those lions are tasting each other, not kissing.

Yes. Right next to the previously named Irvine Meadows Amphitheater. They now call the venue Verizon Amphitheater or something stupid like that.

The West Coast Game Park in Bandon, OR is MUCH better than the Wildlife Safari park.

This is the cheetah area. They used to let them out but I guess they've been naughty and getting up on people's cars and stuff. So yeah, they have all these beautiful cats but you can't see any of them!

Here's the only picture I got (from inside the car, windows up). I circled the cheetah and pointed out other points of interest. Sorry for the shitty picture quality; it's hard to take good pictures when sitting in the back seat of a moving car with the windows up.
