Sinkhole in Nixa! I can't believe it!

So I get home from our kids camp. I'm on the way to the church and sure enough, the road's blocked. I hadn't even heard of it. There in front of me is a sinkhole that has swallowed half of our neighbor's house! I couldn't believe it. They say it's getting bigger and there's another smaller one just north of here.

I know that there are a series of caverns in this part of the state (the Ozarks) . . . but man, this is crazy!

Uhm, shouldn't you be packing your shit into your car leaving the area instead of posting? What with your neighbor losing half their place and all....

Yeah, I live in Springfield - used to live in Nixa, and there was another sinkhole in Colorado (I think) the same day, which made national news. Otherwise I think Nixa would have been mentioned.

Yikes, that's crazy! My wife's grandparents live in Nixa. Fortunately, that's not their house!

Whoa, that is a serious hole. Didn't they know there was nothing under their garage? How does one of those pits just show up like that? Scary.

(Resisting the temptation to suggest checking the sinkhole for black gold, or Texas tea....)

JWerner...so much for the value of your house

I live in Springfield, too. I was told long ago to avoid Nixa for housing because of sink hole issues.
