Do you remember you very first DVDtalk post/visit?

For those of us who have been around a while...do you remember you first post here? Obviously most stuff doesn't get archived so it's all...lost in time...like tears.....*ahem*

Anyway...anyone?

And if not, what brought you to DVDtalk?

Myself...i have no idea. I don't even remember how I found this place. All I know was that it was the first forum I joined online.

I found out about DVDTalk from a coworker back in '00 and it was for the 'Hot Deals' and 'DVD Bargains' forums. I then discovered the Otter and it was all over.

I actually remember my first post vaugely. It was February 2001 when I was in the market for a dvd player and a surround sound system. I knew nothing at all about them but I know I wanted one because my buddy had one. I spent months researching, reading and asking questions in the home theatre forum.

First post in "Other". Couldn't tell ya

I was doing a google search with regard to boomerang kid syndrome, and somehow it led me to the TopBunk threads. I've been a fan ever since.

I lurked for a good month or two before signing up. I was given the link from a friend. He has barely posted in those 7+ years and I'm here everyday. You can blame him.

I bought a DVD player in October 2000 and did a google search fo "DVD" and found the forum. I have no idea what my first post was, but I'm sure it was witty, insightful and grammatically correct.

It may have not been my very first post, but the first thing I remember doing in here was starting a Columbia House thread after I got canned as a CS rep, and offered to give people help with their accounts, and "inside" information about CH.

I'm sure my first post was some kind of thanks for the coupon comment.

I was thrilled with what DVDs offered and searched the net for DVD information. This was the first place I found. Happy to be able to talk about films and my new hobby I decided to become a member. I tried to think of a name. Having just watched Toy Story, I picked a name from my favorite scene thinking, "Hey I'll just be talking about movies and if someone happens to pick up on the fact that I'm a man and put it in a post somehow I'll know that they are a big fan of Pixar films! Brilliant!"

My friend would come to the site becuase of all the deals and he loves DVD's. I like DVD's, but not like him. He's intense. Anyway, I would flip through the site and when I stumbled on otter, I just couldn't stop laughing all the time and the ridiculous threads everybody came up with like, "If you ever licked your own foot, did you like it?" I lurked for a few months and then just started posting.

I don't remember exactly what brought me to DVDTalk, but my very first post was in the International DVD forum in a thread talking about Multi-Region DVDs, so I suppose I must have found the site while looking for info on foreign DVDs right after I bought my first region-free DVD player.

Look, I don't mind if you post, but you don't have to be so stupid Bando about it.

I read along over hubby's shoulder for a few months then created my own account.
There was some problems with 2 accounts, but eventually everything worked out.

my 1st post was in Adult.

I found DVDtalk through the long-gone site dvdreview.com I got my first DVD player (Sony DVP-S7000) a few months after the format launched. When I first discovered DVDtalk, the forum wasn't even a part of the site! Although I didn't post much inititally, I do remember when the forum first went up!

I'm pretty sure it was a thanks to someone who posted a thread on one of those ridiculous $__ off with no minimum purchase coupons that were so abundant in the early days of dvd. I think it was $20 off at Buy.com & I used it to pick up Braveheart on dvd, if I remember correctly.
