So it's finally available commercially? I tasted this marvelous concoction about 5 years ago at an ice cream shop. I've been searching for it ever since.

Suddenly, a root beer float sounds really good.

I have ice cream, A&W root beer, and it's my birthday!

I just bought an ice cream maker and made my first batch of dark chocolate ice cream.. needless to say I feel it's be a vulgar insult to my palate to ever buy ice cream from a store again. I may try to make some root beer float ice cream at some point in lieu of this thread.

Bleah. it's too sweet. I've had some in the freezer for a month, can't quite seem to finish it.

Sounds good, but isn't as good as the real thing.

My mom had some at her house last week. It didn't last long.

I also thought it was a bit too sweet.

Does anyone have an A&W restaurant in there area? I like above NYC in westchester and I think the closiest one was in stamford CT or some mall in CT.

This was for a freezer bowl style ice cream maker.. but it was 2 cups heavy cream, 1 cup whole milk, 1/2 cup Heresy's Special Dark syrup, 2 tablespoons of sugar. Mix all that together and pour it into the freezer bowl, let it run for 20-25 minutes. It was beautiful, softer than any ice cream I've ever had.. even after being frozen overnight!
