Fear on webpage as posters await mrpayroll's next New Alert

Will it be good news or bad, which city is involved.
Is it about Disney.
An injured animal perhaps.
Will TEK read the thread.

And the larger question why has he yet to post a single newstory using the Vacaville News as a source!!

I bolded that bit for the slow readers.

How the hell did I miss this for 3 hours?

Oh yeah, I was actually busy at work this afternoon!

Somedays there is so much news that I have to hold back from posting. Today is one of those days. But if you check my recent record I haven't been posting much.

I could have started a thread on Monday about how I was almost arrested Friday night at 9:55 pm for playing my music too loud in Glendale. Or how the owner of the apartments has basically told me he's evicting me from the apartments.

But I won't bore you with the details.

Oh and speaking of injured animals, you remember that duck story I posted about a month back about the ducks that were living in our pool area and the mother had 14 chicks and 13 followed her down the alleyway never to be seen again. The 14th was sickly, so we saved it and another tenant took it to a shelter in Malibu.

Then the mother came back and laid more eggs in another part of the bushes. I would try to feed her and she would bite me. It wasn't too bad. We got the bleeding under control.

Well, this last Sunday her 5 new chicks hatched and they were in the pool area again. I had gone to see Pirates in the afternoon (sold out - Disney had a free screening at 9 am on Sunday morning at the AMC Burbank 14, but I had to play drums at church, so I couldn't go to the free screening)

So my friend and I (not a teen ) had to see Superman Returns instead (45 minutes too long and a C- ).

When we got back to my place we watched my recording of the World Cup and of course I pad it 30 minutes for a full 3 hours and of course it ends exactly at the end of the 2nd overtime, so we miss the shootout.

Well then, to make a short story, long, I got my trunks on and went into the pool where the mother and her ducklings were and had to swim out to the deep end. My friend was holding a computer box brought just for this occassion. I caught one duckling and put it in the box and the mother went ballistic on me and started dive bombing my 'bald' head

All the neighbors (about 15) were watching and laughing at me and cheering on the mother. But I wouldn't be deterred. So they ended up at the shallow end and I caught the other 4 and the mother was frantic. I then went after here and finally captured her, minus a few hundred duck feathers (the soft ones under the wings) and put her in another box.

It had breathing holes at the top and her head would pop out and try to peck me. My friend and I took them down to the LA River and released the chicks first and I then placed the mother in the water and thankfully she didn't fly away. We watched them for about 2 minutes and the little ones were following her mother. So at least there was one happy ending to a miserable weekend for me!

Hmmm. I thought you might know. I'm not quite sure of anyone that might be in your area you'd like to me.

Who is this Chris Collins? Is he Tom' brother?

Mouse to cut back on pix, personnel
Disney set to slash output, staff

By MICHAEL SPEIER

Even as it basks in the box office glory of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest," Disney is using the opportunity to tighten its belt.

The Mouse House will announce within the next 10 days that it's cutting back on the number of films it makes to around eight per year -- it currently releases around 18 -- and will substantially reduce its workforce. All movies will be Disney-branded, meaning companies like Touchstone could be vastly diminished.

The cutbacks will be far greater than many anticipated, as Walt Disney Studios chairman Dick Cook looks to reinvent the architecture of his studio. Move reflects an effort to improve the studio's return on investment and get infrastructure back into line.

While Disney's having a grand summer with "Pirates" and with Pixar's "Cars," this year has seen some major misfires: "Stick It," "Annapolis," "Stay Alive" and especially "The Wild."

So while the general population wonders how a studio can claim "money problems" after a record-breaking opening -- "Pirates" took in a whopping $135 million in its first weekend, and business is brisk even midweek as it heads into another huge weekend -- the move re-emphasizes the fact that studios are looking to cut costs amid increasing overhead, production budgets and marketing bills.

At WDI, we have 60% less employees since layoff's started in 2000. I've been lucky to survive them, probably because I'm just an Admin Asst and the only one in our department.

We are really hoping that they announce a park in Shanghai soon, which will give us work for years to come.

And it's too bad that they are still talking about layoffs in the other divisions. It's all about profits.

You know I've noticed a lot of "payroll-esque" threads started lately and I was sadened to find out none of them were actually started by mrpayroll.
