Does your local YMCA have ping pong or billiards?

When I was a kid I spent many hours playing ping pong and bumper pool. It was a fine way to impress the ladies by which I mean 12 year old girls.

There's a new video game out for ping pong and it made me think about the old days. The three Y's I've been too in my area don't have any of that stuff.

Does yours or are they all gone?

I just got back from the Y and asked them why they didn't have ping pong or billiards.

They said their branch wasn't so much a social center for kids anymore so they dumped them. Plus the room issue.

When I attended the summer programs they had a pool table, a ping pong table and a foosball table. I was quite the foosball master and tho I was 8, I was allowed to play with the 16 - 17 year old jr. counselors.

I seem to recall a bumper pool table. I think these were donated tho as the conditions they were in were pretty bad. The pool table looked like it came from a pool hall. Regualr sized but the felt was torn and such. Foosball was the shiznit tho!

Back in high school when we used to hang out at pool halls, I remember coming across a foosball game going on. $20 to buy in. And they cheated! Bastards! Well at least to me.. we used to have a no spinning rule (more like your hand couldn't come off the handle).

Imagine a small octagon shaped pool table with a dozen or so posts (bumbers) sticking out of the surface; played with pool cues and red and white colored balls. I can't give you any more info as I've never played or seen one in use.

Thinking about it, I'm not sure I've ever even been inside a YMCA. I grew up out in the sticks, we played in the woods near my house, not some high falutin' community center. But if I were to guess, I'd say...Ping Pong?

You'd guess Ping Pong for what reason?

I'll try to find a bumper pool photo later.
