The Palms or The Hard Rock?

My brother's bachelor party is in Vegas at the end of August. I have stayed at the Hard Rock 4 times already, including for my own bachelor party.

When we went to book the Hard Rock for his, there was a 5 night minimum stay so we booked the Palms instead. The Hard Rock (HRH) just eased off this minimum and actually dropped their prices too.

I have never stayed at the Palms but its the same clientele....young annoying drunks, perfect for a bachelor party.

We have rooms at the Palms but can cancel for the Hard Rock. I thought it was a no brainer but am having second thoughts.

* We stayed at the Hard Rock for my bachelor party and I dont want it to not seem different.
* The Palms has N9NE which I have been dying to go to.
* The HRH has that kick-arse pool but the Palms just redid theirs
* I hear the service STINKS at the Palms
* The Palms has a POKER ROOM. The HRH still does not, from what I know.
* I know I love the HRH so its the safe choice.
* I dont want to be the guy who orders the same thing everytime he goes to a restaurant.

Other hotels ARE NOT an option. Being in my early 30s I hate sitting at tables with old people cashing in their SS check to get chips. I also hate BIG hotels. I like the HRH because you can always find people in your group. I would imagine the Palms is similar.

HRH - $910/4 nights in a mountain view room
Palms is a little less for their similar low-level room.

The $20 trick (I used a $50) didnt work for me at the HRH in November. The Palms seems to have more room levels so it may work better.

Where should I stay?

5-night stay minimum?! WTF?

I've never seen anyone cash a SS check at a table in a Vegas casino.

There was some convention in town that weekend. They took that rule/restriction away last week and we can now stay there.

And MAYBE I was exaggerating about the SS check....but you get my drift.

I know, but I've never seen anything other than cash (or partner casino chips) traded in for chips at a table in Vegas. Now at high roller tables, you will sometimes see marker transactions take place.

Frankly, I can't stand the Hard Rock because the casino is so small so it can be hard to get on a table, particularly one with a reasonable minimum. Never been to the Palms.

It's been a few years since I've been at the Hard Rock, but I couldn't stand it. Then again, I typically can't stand most places packed with obnoxious wannabe hipsters trying to out-cool one another while standing in line for hours to get into the hot new club, and the Palms isn't much different in that respect.

Considering your requirements, these two hotels really are largely the same. Smaller casino, smaller hotel, off the strip, obnoxious hipsters, etc. You can stand at one end of the Palms and see the scope of the entire thing with ease. It's not a big place.

It does have the two Poker Rooms, and they are relatively nice; however, if you're not a smoker, you may hate them. It's definitely a smoke-infested casino.

The rooms are very nice, and I had zero problems with the service when I was there a few months ago. YMMV.

You mention N9NE, which is a great place; however, the Palms also has Alizé, which has a spectacular view of the strip and serves the best food I've ever tasted anywhere. It's expensive, but holy shit it's worth it.

When I was there, the new pool was still under construction.

It sounds to me like you want The Palms, essentially the same thing as the Hard Rock, but a change of pace from what you're used to. I also think it has a better location, since you can easily wander over to the Rio and see a show or take in their second floor shops.

i tend to stay out of the club at the hard rock. the good thing is that when they are all in-line waiting to get in, it frees up room on the casino floor.

i love the hard rock. i think i am more looking for someone to tell me to stay at the palms.

I love both. I prefer the pool at the HR, but haven't been to the new pool at the palms. I like the highend food better at the Palms (Nine vs. JD's Steakhouse?) The HR has Mr. Lucky's though, which is 100% better than the cheaper food places at the Palms. The Spa is way better at the Palms as well.

I'd say give it the Palms a shot, unless you are staying a Sunday (Rehab at the HR would make for a fun Sunday bachelor party activity)

I "Winter" at the Palms, and "Summer" at the HR myself.

Edited to add: Plus you have the Ghost Bar at the Palms which they don't really have a cooler highend bar at the HR. Both have nice (long line) clubs (Body English / Rain)

So we decided to stay at the Palms.

Anyone have cool ideas for a bachelor party t-shirt?

Hard Rock, without a doubt. I was quite disappointed with The Palms.

thanks man. i actually went on a site, looked at recommended layouts and made this one.....

http://customink.com/cink/r.jsp?E=jo...com&F=bachelor

would LOVE some opinions. i basiocally took the vegas sign, added the "your so money and you dont even know it" quote from swingers on the front, then "Vegas Baby Vegas" on the back, with the bachelor party info to go with it.

Is it 2 different bachelor's parties, or are Anthony & Erich getting married to each other?

LOL. No. They are good friends and happen to be getting married close to each other and share friends. So a joint bachelor party was easier.

How's the shirt? Too campy?

I don't want to be mean, so I won't comment on your bowling uniform design.

Seriously, I think the Swingers thing is pretty overplayed, but it's your party. Who cares what we think?

We hosted an event at Red Rock which is 30 minutes from downtown. It's a new place with 400+ room for now. Their adding 400+ more rooms.

I've never been to Palms nor HR but the scene at Red Rock sounded about the same. Red Rock does have nice pool too.

They do have a poker room, plenty of tables and some good clubs.

The downside is that it's off Charleston and in a more residential area. But once your in the hotel, you'll never know.

Here is the site:

I know and I agree.

Any suggestions? T-shirt design has never been my strong point.

I have about 2 weeks before I have to order them.

I like the Vegas symbol on the front, other than that, I just want something either vegas/gambling/bachelor party themed.

I would start a new thread in Otter but my bro is a member here and I dont know if he checks out otter at all.

I've stayed at both and prefer The Palms actually. They recently had a re-grand opening of their pool - though I have yet to see it.
