What's the difference between these two religions?

Yesterday, my twin brother and I were talking about certain religions. In particular Wiccan and Pegan in which he was under the impression that it was:

Pegan- They worship nature and the Earth...
Wiccan- Almost the same thing but use black magic...

I, on the other hand, thought it was the other way around with Wiccan worshipping nature and Pegan is the one that uses black magic...

Or are we both wrong and they completely different religions?

Wicca is a kind of Paganism, like Baptist is a kind of Christianity.

Paganism is a spectrum of nature centric religions, usually polytheistic.

Thanks Mrs. Danger, do you know if any of them use black magic? If not, why do they give off that impression then?

The Wiccans are dead-set against black magic. They really hate people who use it.

Pagans are technically anyone who aren't Christians, Moslems, or Jews. People who call themselves pagans could be anything, really.

For black magic, you want satanists. But they're unpleasant people who would love to have you around in the same way a wolf loves having sheep around. Easy meat.

BTW, I've never practiced any 'alternative religions'. If you'd made a clearer thread title, you might have gotten a response from WiccanMuse.

I think you want to ask a different question. What is the difference between Wicca and Druidism?

Pagan is the same as heathen in most Christian ways of thinking.

Wicca has nothing to do with black magic. While they do perform spells, they do so with the thought that anything they perform comes back to them three-fold.

I have had a Wiccan ceremony performed for me. It was an interesting experience, to say the least.

Please pay attention to the OP. He clearly asked about the "Pegan" religion (which also venerates the life and talents of Arthur "Peg Leg Sam" Jackson), and not about "Pagans."

Thanks guys. You really helped with your answers, and to be more clear, I was talking about the Pegan religion and not about "Pagans"....

Does he have a goatee? If so, I'd be wary of where this is heading if I were you.

Unless... you have the goatee.

Nah, we just have to determine which one is left handed, because left-handedness is a sure sign of EEEEVVVVIIIIIL!

OK. Here is where I stopped reading the thread (I will go back) because this is what I wanted to say if no one else did. I am not trying to pad my post count, rather I want to emphasize mikehuntís statement. Black Magick is used by people from all religions (most notably Catholics). It is frowned upon by the majority of people in any given faith, but is utilized by any given fringe. Shit! A golem tried to bum a smoke off me the other night. Does that make me an anti-semite?

No.

Evil twins are hip to this. They shave to blend in. (It's all about CSI these days. Genome mapping.)

Heh heh, don't worry it just a conversation between me and my twin brother about this those two religions and it just happened to stumbled upon which one uses black magic....

By the way, neither of us (me and my twin brother) are left-handed nor have a goatee.

Also that "G.I. Joe" show really gives people the wrong impression when they think twins can feel each other's pain or read each others mind....though I will admit that I will "know" most of the time how my brother is thinking inside because that's how twins roll

What exactly IS "black magick", anyway? (is there, like, "good calculus" and "bad calculus"?) All supernatural power is borrowed ("Oh goddess Diana, let your will be done! Now, what I want your will to be is...."), you just have to watch out for who you borrow it from and what they want in return. (this goes for ANY praeternatural being, Jehovah included)

This isn't like the schism between Sunis and Shiites, is it? If you follow Crowley it's the left-hand path and if you follow Gardner it's the right? 'Cause then it just boils down into a big mess of us vs. them.

So... Catholics eating the flesh and blood of Christ; where does that put them?

And who says humans aren't animals, anyway? Tasty, tasty animals. Damn. Now I'm hungry. When's lunch?

The way to tell which religion uses black magic is to find out which one James Randi has written a million dollar check to.
