So... a weekend in San Francisco ... school me.

Well it looks like I will be in San Francisco during the weekend of the 14th - 17th of July and was looking for some tips on how to get around in the city. I will not have a rental car or anything of that sort so I'll be relying on public transportation.

So, any good local non-touristy local attractions that I just must see while I'm over there?

Also, I'll be in SF to attend the July 15th Pearl Jam concert. I have an extra ticket if anyone wants to attend.

Maybe somebody's already asked this? Maybe several people have? It would be worth searching for those threads as they have some non-touristy things to do too.

Too funny...every major city comes up about 10x's a year. Should sticky
or sub it. I think I have answered a dozen Chicago threads before I got tired of it.

I am sure NYC, S.F., MIA, BOST, L.A. have been asked many times....

Even better...how to get around ... people you are on the Internet ... all of
this info exists in real time.

Well, the big city scares us country folk so I just wanted to be a little prepared by seeing what the locals would have to say. I'll do a search and dig through some previous threads.

Are you interested in going down the real "crookedest street in the world" and not the one the tourists think it is?

You'll need a car for that though.

Well, I'll be staying at the Mosser on 4th street. It looks like the BART will get me there from the airport.

I had thought about renting a bicycle to use to see the town with but who wants to have to keep up with a bike the whole day? So, I'm going to try to familiarize myself with the public transportation options available while I can.

PJ's playing at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

You can visit Golden Gate Park and watch the feral homeless man (Homo sanshomeus) piss on the sidewalk. Watching local wildlife is always great fun.
