I don't think it's so funny. Most cats who fall from that kind of a distance are killed or badly injured. If the bonehead owners would keep their cat indoors, they would do the cat, themselves, and everyone else a favor.

Well guess what? The cat lived so let the hilarity ensue.

He looked like a skydiver!

Just saw the video. I didn't think the cat would be moving that fast after an 80 foot plunge. Looked like a skydiver without a chute.

I wonder why his tail didn't slow it down, it was spinning like a propeller the whole time.

This reminds me of the footage where that two year old girl got kicked across the fairgrounds into a food kiosk by a horse.

She lived so it was pretty damn funny.

I don't see how that is funny. I can laugh at stupid people doing stuff like this but animals can't help themselves.

However, if somebody could show me the video in Kudama's post about the horse kicking the two year old I would like to see that.

T-minus 5 hours until this page hits 100 replies when the anti-pet brigade and the pets-are-like-humans clan clash for another battle royale.

I can't believe you think a poor innocent little cat falling from a tree is funny. That's really pathetic and sad. I'd like to see you fall from a plame without a parachute and nothing but your hair spinning around like a propeller to try to slow you down! Evil animal haters.

It could have been worse, there could have been a wood chipper under the tree.

what's also shocking is the cat was stuck up there for like 8 days. then he falls and they capture it on tape. and it's pasted on every news wire probably in the world. next stop... "Ellen" !!

i'm not a animal hater hardly... i love my dog more than I do most humans but sometimes animals falling and doing stupid stuff is funny... nothing makes me laugh more than when my dog is sleeping on the edge of the bed and rolls off the bed, lands on the floor and looks completely disoriented for a second like "how the hell did i end up here"

The second branch it caught on the way down spun him around so he landed on his back, but at the same time slowed him down. So would it have survived if it was able to land on his feet without hitting the branch to slow him down?

PS. It wasn't as funny as I was hoping.

What was funny was the way that the cat ran away after landing, but then I'd probably find it equally as funny if a human did that immediately after a similar fall.

(And yes, I'm more in the pets-are-like-humans camp than the anti-pet camp El).

Who leaves their cat in a tree for 8 days?!

Spoiler:
Did they run out of ammo or something?

Only because it hit that last branch and spun . . . it was primed for a four-foot landing until then.

I saw that on the news today, wow is that cat lucky!

Cats are weird about climbing up stuff and not coming down. Normally they will howl for a while and then figure there own way down. From the looks of the video, maybe many more fall from the trees but we don't have a camera there to catch it.
