Kid walks on lawn. Neighbor shoots him dead. Grinds him into fertilizer for the lawn!

Okay maybe that fertilizer part didn't come true but I bet the guy wanted to.

Neighbor charged with killing teen who walked on his grass

Monday, March 20, 2006; Posted: 9:08 p.m. EST (02:08 GMT)

BATAVIA, Ohio (AP) -- A man who neighbors say was devoted to his meticulously kept lawn was charged with murder in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy who apparently walked across his yard.

Charles Martin called 911 on Sunday afternoon, saying calmly: "I just killed a kid."

Police, who released the call's contents, said Martin also told the dispatcher: "I've been harassed by him and his parents for five years. Today just blew it up."

Larry Mugrage, whose family lived next door, was shot in the chest with a shotgun. The high school freshman was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Martin, 66, allegedly told police he had several times had problems with neighbors walking on his lawn. He remained jailed without bond Monday. His jailers said no attorney was listed for him.

Neighbors said Martin lived alone quietly, often sitting in front of his one-story home with its neat lawn, well-trimmed shrubbery and flag pole with U.S. and Navy flags flying.

Joanne Ritchie, 46, said Mugrage was known as "a good kid." She said she always also considered Martin to be friendly.

Union Township is near Batavia, about 20 miles east of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Well, it's almost spring. First round of fertilizer probably went on last week.

Joanne Ritchie, 46, said Mugrage was known as "a rotten little brat." She said she always considered Martin to be friendly.
Just once I'd like to read a news story like that.

That's a man with some seriously fucked-up priorities. I mean, shooting someone for walking on your lawn is bad enough, but this time of year the grass is still dormant.

Every good gardener knows that meat scraps (especially humans) decompose slowly and attract pests. The lawn needs a proper ratio of carbon-rich materials, or "browns," and nitrogen-rich materials, or "greens." Amateur.

I don't want to know what this guy does to people who curb their dogs on his lawn.

I was really hoping for a "...and then we looked in the wood chipper" end to this story.

I have some tool that cuts through the farm then through my yard. I yelled at him once and made him turn around, then he cuts through my neighbor's yard. The wife was home alone one day and she saw him do it again.
If only this was Florida...

Seriously, people are way too uptight these days. put up a fence if you don't want anyone on your property or move to the mountains.

I should put some stuff down too. I kinda skipped it the last few years.

I can't believe I only used the snowblower once and it wasn't really necessary that time either. I still have half a tank of gas in there I need to get rid off. Anyone good at siphoning?

Seriously, people are way too lax in respecting others property rights these days. If you want to enjoy some piece of private property, buy it. Otherwise, stay the heck outAt 15, that's not too hard to understand.

Was the kid a ninja or a pirate?

Anyway, the shooter is screwed. He clearly had to have had the shotgun ready and loaded, and he must've been almost laying in wait. Because unless he has a huge yard it wouldn't take long for the kid to pass through his yard, so the guy had to have acted quick. Unless he chased after the kid and shot him after he was out of the yard, in which case he's probably even more screwed because he won't even have a flimsy trespassing argument to use.

I only used my snowblower once this winter also. It still had the same gas in it from the previous year. Started right up.
Same as my mower, I leave the same old crappy gas and oil in it and it always starts right up every Spring.
