Lastminute.com and Gary Glitter - do you find it funny or offensive?

Reported by BBC News

Lastminute.com breached decency rules by mentioning sex offender Gary Glitter in an advert for children's theatre tickets, the industry watchdog said.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled the advert was likely to cause serious or widespread offence.

Showing two young boys, it stated: "Like Gary Glitter in a sweet shop, you too can have your pick of kiddy treats in London's theatre world".
Do you find it funny or offensive?

Myself, it made me laugh out loud ... and there are far worse jokes in common circulation regarding Gary Glitter after all!

I'm sorry but that's funny. I guess our version would mention Micheal Jackson.

It doesn't bother me either way, but the marketing hack who came up with it should be fired, then fried. Think about it, he's advertising tickets to children's theatre, which will be purchased by loving parents or doting aunties. Does he really think that a glib remark about a pedophile will draw them in? Moran.

A traditional forum spelling of the word "moron" derived from the picture:

Has it not been added to the Rules of Otter yet?

Bro! On lighter side, even I thought that was funny and that even you of all people would have chuckled a little.

Then your rational side would have kicked in and hence your original statement.

Can't I find it funny and offensive at the same time?

Obviously a horrible decision either way.

Funny in a late-night TV monologue kind of way, but not appropriate for advertising purposes.

That's funny, but not good advertising, unless they're trying to attract the lucrative pedophile crowd.

Hey Brotha!

I didn't say it offended me that way. I did smile when I read it. What incensed me is the fact that some incompetent marketing fucktard got paid for it (I have issues with people not doing their jobs, or doing them poorly, lately.)
