Need Help Installing a CB Radio

Yesterday a friend gave me a Radio Shack TRC-487 CB radio. He said it workd and told me how to install it. I hooked it up just the way he told me to, but it won't turn on. The only thing I can think of is maybe I am using the wrong type of wire. The CB has those little multi-copper wires coming out of the back and I am attaching a solid copper wire to it.

EDIT: Ok, I got it. I don't know why it wasn't working, I had it right. But I just took another road and found an old car-adapter plug. I cut the plug off the other end, striped the wires and twisted them onto the CB wires. Worked like a charm.

"Trucker Clock, who wants it"

I am assuming you are hardwiring it and not to the lighter adapter. Technicallt stranded or solid wire won't do anything, although stranded is more flexible. Make sure the ground is connected well, and the polarity is not mixed up. Red should be power, black ground. If there is no color, try wiring the opposite way you have it and see what happens.
