I forgot to pay at the Sandwich shop

There is this sandwich shop I eat at sometimes for lunch. Today, I decided to go there for lunch so when the guy gave me my sandwich I sat down and ate it then walked out. I was just going through my wallet and I discovered I hadn't paid because I have the same amount of money that I had this morning. The guy must of forgot about it too because no one came out chasing me "Hey, You didn't pay" I even walked past the guy when leaving and said "Goodbye" Should I go back tomorrow and tell them I forgot to pay? What would you do?

If you eat there regularly, then tell them you forgot and pay. I'm sure they'll view it favourably. Even if you don't, then I'd still suggest visiting them and paying

He didn't chase you because he had already spat in your sandwich as a pre-emptive measure.

I'd just go in tomorrow and say "Uh...I came in here yesterday, and I think I forgot to pay..." and then wait for them to either say "Okay, well pay us now!" or "Oh, don't worry about it. If they ask you to pay, then just pay and leave. If they they don't make you pay, then eat there and put a buck or two in the tip jar if they have one.

I agree, I wouldn't even post the story online.

Escape the country. It's the only way to be sure. You can live out the rest of your life on a tropical island, sipping those super-sweet tropical drinks, re-living your infamous criminal past.

I think he realized they suck for not giving you a free sammich for every five purchased. Quizno's really has them running scared.

Go back and pay next time you're in the area. It's the right thing to do.

Offer to pay the next time. THey'll appreciate it. I like the idea of leaving a few bucks tip if they don't ask you to pay for it. Karma is a good thing.

I agree, go back and pay. Side story about restaurant karma. I was a frequent patron of a particular italian place for many years (2-3x per week) and from time to time I would discover I was short. The proprietor, Franco, would just say to pay next time. After about the first six months of my patronage he started offering me and my guests a free after dinner shot of grappa (or our choice), every time.

Five foot two? Five three?

Why had you never realized this before?

You have no choice. Kill everyone who works at the shop, and any customers who were there at the time. You'd be better off if you killed their families too, just in case they told them about the theft. Burn the shop to the ground. Then, kill everyone who has read this thread, and their families too.

Except me.

If this place was so busy they didn't notice you stiffed them, they're making enough money without your lousy six bucks or whatever it was.

Okay, just kidding. Go back, politely tell them what happened, and pay. Like someone said above, karma can work both ways.

Since you might mess up their accounting by giving them the money, why not just make a sandwhich and give them that?

I'm just trying to imagine the situation. In every sandwich shop I've been in, they hand you the sandwich and immediately tell you the price. You pay. You sit and eat (or leave).

What the hell broke down in the system?

(BTW, thanks. Now I'm going to have to get a sandwich for lunch)

Well, I went to the sandwich shop and told em that I forgot to pay. They didn't even know that I had forgotten to payand were shocked. Now that I think about they were a little busy at the time. The guy said "Thanks, I appreciate your Honesty" You are a Good Honest person" then I paid for it and that was it.
