New Paypal Scam?

I haven't used eBay or my Paypal account for a little while, and my last transaction on there was to pay off my seller fees from eBay.

This morning, in my junkmail folder, I get an email from PayPal <[email protected]> that says I just payed PHONEDEPOTUSA $239.00 for a pink Razr phone. It looks like a legit Paypal email. Here's the body:

Before I logged in to Paypal from that link on the email (I'm not an idiot) to dispute the charge, I logged in on my other computer. Sure enough, the last time I used Paypal? To pay ebay, for the sellers charges. If you click the link at the bottom to log into Paypal from the email, it takes you to an exact replica of the Paypal homepage, only the address is http://email.ashinfo.com/src/.ut/cmd-run=/pplog.htm.

When will they ever stop?

You know I also saw this new funny thing, "All your base are belong to us." I think it has a chance to be a real Internet craze.

I think it's legit. You just have to forward it to 10 friends first.

Why is there a question mark in the thread title?

alright, I've considered it, and I deserve 'em.

Here's to hoping someone...anyone hasn't seen this before and avoids having their bank account emptied.

And to think...Paypal keeps pushing for us to verify our account by giving them our bank information. That seems like such a disasterous idea. All it takes is a few clicks and passwords on a day when you are tired and not on your toes.

You've just been scammed. Sucker.

I've gotten a few of those lately. I guess fear of loss makes some dummies click and ultimately, really lose.

I was getting these quite frequently a couple of months ago and the first couple of times I would open up a new browser window and log into PayPal and verify that these e-mails were a load of shit!

I feel sorry for the people that don't know better and click on the link and do whatever they do to lose money.
