The Dregs of Christmas

What's the latest you ever took your Christmas tree down?

Our record was Feb 14. But we are about to break that. It's still up, and I don't see us getting it down tonight.

Lots of bad reasons, but the fact is, it is still up.

What's your latest? (I doubt anyone will beat this date, but feel free to say 'your date').

conversely - what's the earliest you ever put a tree up?

Yuck, how can you took at that thing? Ours goes up about two weeks before, and comes down the day after. I just can't stand to look at the thing after Christmas is officially over.

Our tree is still up It has probably seen Easter before.

I'd leave it up year round if the wife would agree.

We do real candles on the tree, so lots of people like to see the lighting ceremony. That often happens in January, due to people's schedules.

But yeah, it gets old as February beckons. And we were going to have it down by now, but we're having family emergency issues, so suddenly that becomes almost a non-issue - so it sits, candleless, lonely, with a whimper of 'I wanna go to the basement now!'

You should just keep it up and get an early start for next year...

Nah - it's still up today and will probably be up for a week or more since we will be out of town. But I want it down when we can get to it.

As we drove down the street this morning, we saw that someone had taken down his natural christmas tree this week and put it out with the garbage today.

I suppose that it's better than keeping nitroglycerine in your livingroom. . .
