What happens if my cat eats potato chips?

I was having some chips and dip and the cat knocked a small chip off the table and ate it. She really enjoyed it and started licking and munching on the chips until I stopped her.

Is this normal?

Well, it shows it contains enough fat to make your cat think it is meat.
It will probably damage you more than the cat.

(Cats are carnivores and don't eat starches unless the fats fool them)

Mine likes to lick the salt off but never eats the actual chip. As long as you don't give your cat a whole bag of chips and a Bud Light, I think it'll be ok.

Be careful. The next thing you know, your cat will start eating bon bons, watching Oprah, and stop taking care of itself (i.e., licking itself).

Nothing. My cats love chips. My parents used to have a cat that loved them so much, at the sound of a bag opening he'd be at your feet wanting some. As long as you don't like to over feed them, they'll be ok.

HA!

You can believe that all you want, but while it might hold true for most cats, isn't 100% guarantee.

We have a cat, now 22, who eats ANYTHING. Potato peeling, biscuits, raw carrots, cooked pasta, even sugar cubes. About the only thing that I've ever seen her refuse to eat was a grape, and that was because it kept 'escaping' from her grasp.

Maybe we could discuss it at a New Brunswick Otter meet?

Agreed. I had a cat that was fond of plum skins... My sister-in-law had a cat that would eat just about any food, including french fries.

We had a cat that would eat french fries and tortilla chips off my plate when I wasn't watching...until I gave her one with salsa on it. She never ate off my plate again.

Nothing. Our cat eats chips all the time. I've been trying to get her to eat the Habanero Doritos, but it's a no go.

I forgot to ask if your cat had been smoking pot. Cause if so, eating potato chips is normal. Or so I've heard.

My cats don't get any table food -- at least, not willfully. However, they have sneaked licks from bowls of ice cream AND chip dip. The little dairy hounds.

My Zuzu will eat Pringles only. No other chips. No idea why.

She eats just about anything else. I can't remember the last time I sat down with a sandwich and she wasn't there.
