In-n-Out, Animal Style

I'm an east coast boy living in Chicago, so I've never eaten at an In-n-Out. But I do know that one of the tricks to In-n-Out is you can order pretty much any size burger you want. Want it with 6 beef patties and 3 slices of cheese? Tell the man behind the counter you want a 6x3 and he'll make it for you.

These people took it to the next level and order a 100x100.

I wonder if that comes with a defibrilator?

They grill the onions and toss in extra secret sauce.. which is mayo, ketchup and relish.

For me, it's always a 3x1 (optional animal style) and a soda. Not much of a fry guy. Especially at IN-N-OUT. best burgers.. but crappy fries.

Dbl Dbl w/ onions, protein style for me. Best I've done is 2 4x4's... 10 mins.

Best I've done at Tommy's... 4 Dbl hamburgers with everything and 2 chili fries... 15 mins.

And best I've done at the Green Burrito... 2 Big Ed burrito's in 20 mins (that's about 5 lbs of burrito)

I've found that the quality of In-n-Out fries can vary wildly. One day, they'll completely suck--bland, lukewarm, cardboardy. Another day, they'll be perfect--salty, crispy, tasty. Maybe it's a mood thing.

You just have to ask for the fries to be "well done" in order to get great fries every time.

One of my former students used to work at an In-N-Out. Biggest burger he said he ever had to make was a 10X10. But 100X100?

Not a huge fan myself. Burgers are too salty for my taste. Prefer Fat Burger (add egg). But when I do go, I get two double-doubles w/grilled onions, no tomatoes and a vanilla shake.

I've tried that, but I really don't like that well-done flavor. If they get the slightest bit too dark, they're terrible. For me, they just need to be perfectly cooked, salted, and hot out of the oil. Mmmmm, oil.

If you want good fries, go animal style on them too. They throw cheese, grilled onions, and spread (their code for the secret sauce). mmmmmmm

The In-N-Outs I've been to are pretty consistent in their greatness/suckiness. Up here in Northern California next to campus is an In-N-Out that always has excellent fries. Always fresh and hot, with the right amount of salt and crisp. Back home in SoCal, the In-N-Out next to my house usually has lukewarm, limp, flavorless fries. So I think it does vary from place to place.

That stuff is making people hungry?

What's up with the raw patties, don't they know how to cook?

Sounds like you and I are in the same boat. Longing for In-n-Out, living in Colorado. The good news is that I'm gettin' me some in 3 days. My favorite location: Westminister, CA. Mmmmm.
