Claiming unborn children on tax forms?

Curious to see what you guys would do in my situation.

I just got a job offered to me today and I accepted it and I have to go in to the office by Friday to fill out all the paper work and what not. My wife is pregnant and will be having the babies (twins) in 1 1/2 months. When I am filling out my tax information should I claim them now or do I have to wait 6-8 weeks until they are born then redo all of the paperwork?

The obvious answer seems to be fill them out again once the kids are born. But doing it now would be easier and I wouldn't have to worry about it later.

Thoughts?

Claim them now on your W-4. They'll be there when you need them on Dec. 31 and that's what counts.

There's no reason your # of exemptions has to be exact on your withholding anyway.

I'm assuming you're in the U.S.

What are you talking about claim them... You can use any number you want on your W4's Choose 6 if you want. But if you want to guarantee a refund at the end of the year then pick 0 or 1. You will have to redo all of the form when it comes to the health insurance.

Choosing 6 would be a bad idea since you'll owe penalties on top of your regular taxes since you underpaid throughout the year.

Who says 6 won't work out? It depends on how many deductions you have.

I've had over 20 and still got a refund.

I need some kids and a mortgage. I claimed 0 and still have to pay. And that's before I figure out dividends for last year.

I file as single, no dependents, claimed 2 on my W4 and still got a refund. Of course, it helps that I make next to no money.
