I cant stop getting up in the middle of the night to beat

Ok, i seriously need help with this. Plus people have been getting onto me about it, and my waistline would probably appreciate the help

I absolutely positively can not make it through the night, without getting up to eat. Like at 3-5 AM. Ill get up and make a bowl of oatmeal, a sandwich, protein shake, or something like that. My stomach just wont stop growling and acheing if i dont do this.

Im not overweight at all, im 5-11 170 pounds, but i have an appetite that is unstoppable.

What would be good things to do to fight this problem? Ive tried getting up to just drink water, but then i just have to get up to pee and then since im up i want food. Some people say a protein shake is good before bed because it digests slowly, etc..

Anyone else eat bad like this? what do you do ?

You might see if you can find a dietary supplement that helps regulate your metabolism.

Isn't this something many Diabetics encounter?

Do you eat shortly before going to bed? If so stop it. If not give it a shot.

That's what my wife always tells me...

The classic symptoms of diabetes are:

* excessive urination, including frequent trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night
* intense thirst and hunger
* severe fatigue.

If you are not gaining weight, what's the worry? Find some small snack that works well for you, brush your teeth, and go back to bed. I suggest raw almonds, or a bran muffin.

Do get tested for diabetes, though, being hungry all the time is one of the symptoms.

Supplement your diet by going to a local eatery and eating off other's plates. Most people will be so shocked that they won't say anything.

Yes it is, because technically speaking with Diabetes your body is starving even though you have eaten plenty of food.

You will encounter an extreme thirst to accompany this as your kidneys try to flush the 'extra' sugar from your blood.

As some of your fellow steakhouse diners might say, you may have "the sugars"...

Just for peace-of-mind you should go for the diabetes test. I was diagnosed a few years ago and I'm not within the standrad profile for it - I'm thin with no family history - but when I was constantly hungry, always eating, and still losing weight, that's what it turned out to be. Dammit.

Yeah -

If it's something that happens more nights than not, you should go see a doctor - better not to let something like this hang.

EDITED TO ADD: What time do you usually eat dinner? Also, I used to get very hungry around 4:30 in the afternoon, eat dinner, then do some serious snacking (i.e. a couple of bowls of cereal, a giant sandwich and chips, etc.) until i went to bed - it was because I'd only eat a banana and a vitamin pill for breakfast, smoke cigarettes on my lunch break, and when I'd finally eat a meal in the afternoon, it would whet my appetite to a point where I couldn't feel full. Are you eating three meals? Have you just given up smoking cigarettes? Do you drink alcohol in the evening? Do you smoke an illegal substance popular at Phish shows? All can contribute to an unsatisfiable appetite. Go get checked out.

cheers,

-the Jesus

Start eating things you don't like. Brussel sprouts, Rye bread with natural peanut butter (that oil is just wrong), whole green peppers, your girlfriend, melba toast, saltines with sardines, etc.

You'll stop wanting that snack pretty damn quick.

Get a timer lock for the fridge. Or better yet... chain yourself to the bed with one.

Glad I could be of service.

Nope, it was a Gypsy. But then again, recent evidence does show real Gypsies have roots in India. But I was making reference to a someone putting a curse on another because the person offened them.....
