How is Howard Stern doing on Sirius?
Didn't see a thread about Howard's new home.
So how was the first show? What happened? I'd imagine he'd drop the F-Bomb for the 1st word spoken.

I don't get the bickering between O&A and Howard fans. I like both, but I can certainly understand how some could like one show exclusively and others like the other show. It's all about personal taste. To denegrate someone for that is just plain silly, IMO.

Can somebody explain the math involved with the Howard Stern-Sirius deal.
Howard Stern's deal was a 5 year 500 million dollar deal. 100 million a year.
Sirius just recently passed 2 million subscribers. At 12.99 a month that is only 26 million a year.
Where does the rest of the money come from? They don't have commercials on their stations. So where do they get income from outside of subscriber fees?

$13*12*2,000,000 = $312,000,000

Just want to say that Stern was on Sirius last night. The whole gang was doing an equipment check when Stern decided to broadcast it out. So for about an hour, Stern and the gang were on.
Man did I miss them! Stern kept on trying to do a real show and Ba Ba Booey kept on trying to tell him to save it for the 9th. But he just couldn't help but be himself. You could tell that they sounded much more free. A few callers even got through and he put them on.
Can't wait until the 9th!

And the math does have to really work out yet... Most companies like this expect to lose money in the short term. The idea is to build up your subscriber base so that you can have long term profit.

Does anyone know if I can listen to the show after work? No repeaters out here near suburbia...
With my luck, the same 30 minutes I hear on the drive TO work I will also hear on a later-in-the-day rebroadcast while driving home.

the stock forums on both services sites seem to believe that Mel is positioning Sirius to be taken over by a ClearChannel-like corp., so long term goals are hard to project
The other factor, is how many of the 3 mil would have been there without Howard in the first place...since that number is next to impossible to determine, all these formulas are useless
