We are starting to flood

We have a creek behind our house, and we have been getting a lot of rain. Normally the water runs abouta foot below the edge of the lawn. This is from earilier today, and it has risen more. Behind Tyler you can see that it has breached the side at a low spot and is coming near my big tree.

Okay, you see the black dog on the left of the picture? Shoot it. Actually, that is Shelby. It appears the creek turns right just past Shelby. It is, and it shouldn't. That's my freaking yard, man.

Because life likes to suck with variety, I also had some big branches come down a few days ago. Got the poll saw, got on a ladder, cut the branches, got hit by the branches, fell to the ground, bruised my side.

Here is a close up of where the creek should not be flowing.

Here it is looking upstream. Again, it should be a foot lower.

Another branch that has fallen. It fell in the creek, so I don't feel the need to get in and cut it up yet.

This is actually where my irrigation pumps are. Here the water should also be lower.

This is actually right next to the irrigation pump and looking over a field I own. The field be flooded. Now I have to find a different location to build my ark. Interestingly, it is about from here that I shot the dog years ago. Good times....good times.

Here is Tyler standing in the field on the other side of the creek. The irrigation pump is on the other side, and you can see part of my house in the back.

This one is hard to do justice with my camera. This is my basement. Just a regular basement that you never use for anthing other than a place to keep the furnace, hot water heater, and the bodies. Anyway, in the corner, water is shooting out from the wall at nearly the rate of a garden hose. There are smaller leaks as well. My sump pump has been working overtime. I actually counted the cycle, and it runs for 30 seconds, takes 26 seconds to fill up again, and starts all over. Good planning to have my bedroom above that.

I think someone got a new digital camera for christmas.

Oh and sorry to hear about the flooding. My main concern is what is going to happen to the magical shed of mysterious lights.

Perhaps it is time to build some sort of ark type structure.

Actually, used my wife's camera. Actually, she took the pictures today while I was at work. The shed is fine, except that is has a horse infestation I would like to remedy.

Consider it nature's sweet revenge for all its children (read: cats / dogs ) that have been struck down while caught in your crosshairs

It says it is prone to flooding.

My house is at least 15 feet above the creek, so no worry there. Just happen to be getting a lot of rain.

Send some of that rain our way. We haven't had any snow in the high country at all this year. Best snow season in 20 years last year, and this year is the worst in 20 years.

I heard about the rain coming and thought of you. Supposed to be a whole crap load of rain coming your way. Is it too late to get some sandbags from your local FD?

Poor Dave. I feel bad for you. My backyard is a swamp right now and several creeks in our area are going to flood onto the roads soon if the rain doesn't stop.

@ AV....
