Would a suction cup stick to plexiglass?

I have a Sirius unit I'm installing in my car. Rather than mount it on the windshield, I was thinking of the following set up. I have a space in the console that would fit the unit perfectly. What I was thinking is getting a small piece of plexi (if the suction would work) and putting it down there. I'd anchor the sucker in place w/ some industrial velcro below it so it doesn't slide around.

If plexi won't work, then I'll have to go find some glass.

Can you not just velcro the sportster itself, or would that block the clip for the home dock?

I could velcro the bottom of the car docking cradle. However, it's not tall enough. I want to use the cradle. That, itself, can't be velcroed b/c the bottom is uneven and is the suction. If I do it this way, I can add the height as well as the tilt feature of the cradle to make it easier to see.

I would think as long as your kept the surface of the plexi-glass smooth.. no scratches or grooves or what not, you'd have a good surface.

Yes, bu not as well.

I sell suction cup attachments for cars. It is my business. It will start to stick but lose suction rather quickly as compared to glass. We just did a trade show in Florida and were using a plexiglass displaycase. The suction cups were coming off in 3-4 hours or less.

What does work better is glass or formica or smooth metal.

Well, I went w/ glass instead anyway. I could get it cheaper, and the sizes my local HD was selling was easier to cut and smaller to the size I need. Hopefully my jerry-rigged system works for the next few years.
