My WWII collection - part 2 - dialup beware

My GF bought me a few new goodies so it inspired me to take everything out and take better pics. I have a bunch of American and Russian stuff too, but the German items are by far my favorite.

There are a bunch of medals and paper items that I couldnt photograph at all so I'll have to keep working on them. Anyone else collect military items? But for now here they are:

I keep most of the field gear inside tupperware boxes. I'm afriad of light and humidity getting to it. The medals and paperwork I keep in my safe.

Here is a photo I recently acquired. I only collect photos that have some emotion behind them.

cool stuff. I have a few things my gramps left me. I have a some medals I looked them up once but at the moment can't remember their meanings.. I think one was the equivalent to the German purple heart. I also have a Luger in very nice condition with all matching serial numbers but no holster and only one matching serial number clip. I also have a naval officer's dress dagger and a Nazi Party flag and a French flag, both I would guess are 3x5. I will have to get out and2 check it out again.

Cool stuff you got there,How do you find that stuff now ? I would like to add to the collection but seldom see items available.

First rule is NEVER buy from Ebay. Everything and I mean everything is being reproduced these days so its often impossible to tell if it original from photos

This is why not many people take up the hobby anymore. You literally have to do tons of research or you get burned. I limit myself mainly to field gear and mess halll items, so I own many books just on that topic. There are also boards where I post that include "experts" from all over the world. They've saved me from making a few bad purchases.

Most good websites will offer a lifetime guarantee as to the item's authenticity. Of course you pay a steep premium for that, but thats what the hobby has become.

BTW...the German "purple heart" is called a wound badge. Available in black, silver, and bronze. Check the back for a maker's mark (usually 2 SMALL numbers).

If I help Tom with his small claims case and he loses, I am so dead, aren't I?
