My boyfriend and I just broke up. :(

Well after 9 months I just decided to end it. Just really sucks because it's right before christmas, and well I just found out his company is moving to the same building that I am in, so there's a chance I'll have to see him everyday.
I liked this guy alot, but I guess people just get into a dark place for some reason and I couldn't help him out of it.

I'm trying really hard not to cry at work, so I hoped I would get some support from fellow members.

Thank you.

Maybe he just didn't want to have to buy you anything for the holidays. Look for him to call you sometime around the end of february.

Well, look at the bright side, you don't have to buy him a Christmas gift now.

And the end of relationships are always hard, the cliche that seemed to make sense to me was that it just wasn't meant to be, and that it's better to end it now than go through a painful divorce years down the road.

Out of curiosity, what was the dark side of him?

That's what I thought at first, I've known of a guy who would literally break up with whomever he was dating right before Christmas and Valentine's Day just to avoid having to buy them a gift. But in this case, she's the one who broke up with him.

SHE ended it, dork!

Again, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be. I'm truly a romantic and believe there is someone out there for everyone...possibly several...it just depends on how your lives intersect.

Think about everything that you learned from this relationship...like how you developed particular wants and needs...the needs that were met and the ones that weren't. Use all the knowledge you gained from this relationship and put it towards the next. You're more powerful for knowing what you want and what signs you know to look out for next time around.

As my mother says..."this too shall pass." Until it does, **BIG HUGS**

I'm proud of ya Green Smurf!

Most women worry too much about the hurt of the other party instead of putting themselves first. You'll make it through, you seem strong!

I'm sorry to hear that. If it makes you feel any better, my ex-gf and I broke up on Valentine's Day.

These things are always difficult, Green Smurf, but you'll get through it, and you'll be stronger for it.

I'd give you a hug, buy I don't want to be that "rebound guy." You understand, right?

No. She said he had a dark side. Was he having dreams about you? dying in child birth? Maybe he was trying to save you?

Just a thought.

I'll be that guy. I'm very good at being a transitional relationship

Sorry to hear, though. I'm sure you did the right thing but now you might have to see him. That can be very awkward at times. Hopefully he'll be professional while at work.

I had an "office fling" with a woman who's cube was across from me. Just give it time and it will get better.

First thank you to everyone!!

Well the problem being I'm not sure. I know that men don't talk about there feelings and what have you, but he became a totally different person. He just never opened up and told me what it was.

The first four months were great, then he just started to change. He became very quiet, and very mean to alot of people. He was never mean to me or anything, but I just don't like seeing other people being belittled. He started just talking about ending things like taking his life, or just moving away and not tell anyone. He was never mean to me, but I didn't want to stick around to see if that would change. Just scary stuff.

I sort of confronted him about it and he kept saying he was sorry but nothing really changed so I just ended it.

Just amazing how a person can do a 180 in a matter of months. This was the same guy that wanted to go to Vegas and get married when I went there for CES next month, and was talking about wanting a baby and trying to convince me I wanted one to.

It's not a commitment problem since he was married before.

I just keep hearing that new Keith Urban song in my head and it makes me feel a bit happier.

You did your best, that's all you can say. Some people are beyond help and you did right in not wanting to be a crutch for someone unable to help themselves with your support. Maybe this will spark something in him to fix whtever he needed to fix in his life and he'll return a better person.

Yeah, that's what I keep telling myself about my ex.

I know you're going through a rough time, so please don't take this the wrong way:

Yeah, if I ever get divorced or, God forbid, my wife dies in a freak choking-on-shards-of-the-Serendipity-DVD accident, I'll get so many women because they'll all think I'm not afraid of committment. Ha!
