A New Low in Email Scams?

Received the following email today:
----------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir,

This is a notification letter that you are among the listed benefactors in
the Codicil and last testament of Barbara D. Finberg, a tireless advocate
active with numerous organizations committed to the welfare of women against breast cancer, a consulting philanthropist for nonprofit organizations who died at 76yrs at her home in New York City on March 5 after a long battle with breast cancer.

Her distinguished career as a public servant and unrelenting advocate for
children and families will always be a great source of pride and a shining
example for everyone she touched. The deceased until her death was a
member of Board of Trustees of various organisations. She said that this
token is to support your ministry and help to the less privileged.

I hereby request your confirmation of reciept of this notification to enable
me forward to you all the relevant documents for the release of this bequest
of money before the paying bank will contact you for transfer of funds into
your designated bank account..

Congratulations !!
Yours faithfully,
Dr. Joci Machi

Now, I google the name and this woman was a *real* breast cancer advocate, not just something they made up.

The Nigerian-type scams are terrible as is, but to use breast cancer as a "grab" and namedrop a real cancer advocate is just deplorable, IMO.
