Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Game "Turtle Hoppin!"

So I get this box from Betty Crocker of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which are your basic fruit chews. Box says NEW on it. Always good to know.

On the back is a game called "Turtle Hoppin'!"
Leap into Fruit Snack fun with this totally tubular game from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles(tm)!
Boy is this going to be exciting. So I start reading the rules.

TO GET STARTED: Line up 3 Fruit Snacks of the same color over the vents at the bottom of the box. Line up another 3 fruit snacks of a different color over the vents near the top of the box. Leave the vent in the center uncovered.

TO PLAY: Your goal is to get the different colored Fruit Snacks to switch places by sliding them, one at a time, into the open vent, or by hopping over another Fruit Snack to an open vent. Only one Fruit Snack per vent is allowed.

Now you can boil this game down to a much more basic. A straight line of 7 holes. 3 markers on one end. 3 different colored markers on the other end. Blank hole in the middle. Start.

It should become quickly apparent that your moves are extremely limited. You could start at either side I suppose, but once you start, you no longer have a choice. The next move is determined for you, and there seems to be no way to win.

Here is a quick grid showing the possible moves-

Is this some way to frustrate kids across America, or am I missing some hidden trick to winning this game?

You're missing the trick. For move 8, slide the tightmost red fruit snack back a square. For move 9, slide the middle red fruit snack back a square. For move 10, jump a blue fruit snack over the leftmost red fruit snack.

The remainder of the puzzle is left as an exercise to the reader.

The moves aren't quite predetermined. For example, there are two other moves that red could do instead of the one shown in turn six (although two are backwards). There are a few other times that a choice comes up if you continue along the path shown here.

You do eventually get a winner, but that is a pretty terrible game.
