Not this year.

I went last year, though. I'll bet Geoff is going.

I'm going, it will be my first time! What's the dress code for this thing anyway, people don't wear suits to it, do they?

I registered for CES a month or 2 ago, and I swear, I get something from them at least twice a week now. Oh those poor dead trees...

I have my badge, but not sure if I'm going. Don't feel like staying out in Primm either since $200 seems to be the going rate for a one night stay in the city. Plus I still need to buy my AEE pro pass, too.

I have a spare bed in my room at the Blue Moon...

Is there any advantage to buying the AEE pass ahead of time? I went a number of years ago, and just bought it at the show, and while the line was long, it went fast.

Well, if you get the pro pass.. it's $125 for all 5 days, instead of $40 each day. Last year it was $60 for the full event.

I wonder if it will be anything like your trip to IML.

When did they start charging for AEE? Last time I went, it was free with a CES badge.

Not as much freebie giveaway crap as there used to be. That stuff makes me feel important. I won't go.

They've been charging for the past few years.. when they found out how much money it could make. I've been there when no one would be walking around CES and everyone was at AEE.

Free if you have a porn business? I know CES is free. I'm talking about the Adult Entertainment Expo.

Anyone else having problems registering? The process is long but at the end it just tells me there's been an error. I tried it last week also and it gave me a different error.

I'm not there personally, but I learned a lot of stuff and you can too at avsforum.com. Not trying to plug another board, but they are pretty good at covering it.

Here's what I learned...

-Lots of Blue Ray and HD DVD coverage
- Blue Ray coming out in June or summerish at $1700 for a pioneer player but as low as $1000 for Samsungs version. Won't have any recordable players for launch and won't play cds.

-Hd DVD has an advantage of coming out earlier in March with cheaper players than Blue Ray at $499 and $700. Downside is that the players won't play 1080p for the few lucky rich people who have 1080p sets at this time.

-Both HD DVD and Blue Ray have announced titles. Check at digitalbits.com for more details.

-Lots of 1080p plasma sets by several companies.

-Sony didn't do anything new or showoff the PS3 like some had hoped.

-Microsoft announced an attachment hd dvd player to come out sometime in 06 for the x box 360. More details to come later. They also announced and showed of the new Windows OS known as Vista now.

That's all I can think of at this point.

Just got back yesterday from Vegas and LA. Spent a good 3/4 of a day during the CES opening and just wandered around looking for something new. Most of it was just bigger or faster than current stuff.
- MS Windows Vista looked promising. Sat at a demo showing the tabbed browser and integration with RSS feeds, and easier networking. The most surprising thing was how they managed to sqeeze a Vista t-shirt into a package the size of a hockey puck.
- The PS3 stand was a bit of a letdown. No sign of the console, just a looping pre rendered video of Metal Gear Solid 4 footage. Wasn't even in English. Would have gotten more of a reaction from the crown if they played the killzone video.
- The 102-103" Plasma screen from (I think) Panasonic, Samasung and LG were very impressive. Wall size screens that you only previously saw in Sci Fi movies. Felt grand standing next to one.

Apart from that the booth babes were the next best thing. Nero had some nice ones.

And there were also some Playboy bunnies posing for someone. I forget.

Look at the picture. Do you think it might be Sirius?
