Ladies' Drinks

I’ve always been one to go for the “foofy” drinks, anything that sweet and mixed. What I’d love to find is an actual man that knows how to mix a decent drink for a lady. I know you guys don’t like the fru-fru stuff yourself, but you know, it might benefit you to know how to get a lady a little tipsy. What do you think? Are there drinks that are just for the ladies? Any guys out there that drink fancy mixed drinks?

I used to be a bartender, and still do private partys now and then. Women love my drinks. I usually have a beer if I'm real thirsty, other than that it's mixed drinks for me.

Cherry voka sour, Kamikaze, Malibu&Sprit, Malibu&Cranberry and Frozen Margaritas are good choices. Pretty much drinks that you cant taste the liquor but that can sneak up on you.

Well, in terms of tastiness? Midori sour.

In terms of tastiness + maximum amount of booze to get the babe shlilzted? The always reliable, Long Island Iced Tea.

Midori Sour, amaretto sour and screwdrivers are for me. LIT if I feel like getting trashed early.

Bring on the girlie drinks. Can't stand beer or wine.

I've heard that one before, only the guy I knew said that the drink shouldn't have ice, either. I agree, it seems like most guys I know don't like the fancy stuff. I know how to make a great guys drink, though, that's fancy. I learned it as an "Irish Mimosa". The place where I get most of my drink recipes and ideas from (www.thebar.com, awesome site) calls it a Black Velvet. It's Guinness and champagne. Tasty.

Chalk me up as a girly drinker. Sweet "martini's" and mixed drinks for me. A lemon drop or a cosmo. Malibu and diet coke is my standard "I don't want to get drunk yet" drink. Vodka lemonade. All good stuff.

My wife makes this drink she calls a "Lemon Pom-Pom". It's made of vodka, Lemon Zinger tea, and pomegranate juice, served with a lime slice. All her women friends seem to enjoy them.

Yes. Just because it is strong doesn't mean it isn't a girl drink.

Naw, what makes a girl drink a girl drink is having the taste of alcohol obfuscated by other flavors, most ususally sugary ones. There are plenty of foofy fruity drinks that have loads of liquor in them (Mai Tai's, for example). Thinking about why that's so and the culture around it makes me squeamish, actually.

How about sidecars and highballs? Those names suggest that the drinks are for guys, and I've seen guys mix sidecars for their tailgate parties and stuff. Yet, here's the recipe for a Crown Sidecar from www.thebar.com:

Ingredients
• 1 oz. Crown Royal Special Reserve
• 2.5 oz. triple sec
• 2 oz. sweet and sour mix
• 1 wedge lime
................................................................................
Preparation
• Add Crown Royal Special Reserve, triple sec, and sweet and sour mix
• Shake with ice and strain into chilled sugar-rimmed cocktail glass

So, girl drink or guy drink?

I'm a rum and coke kinda' gal. Captain if I'm going for the good stuf. My "girly" drinks would be margaritas on the rock with salt, or blended strawberry margaritas. A girl friend of mine likes Long Island Ice Teas. I don't like the lemon taste. I do also love LOVE sour apple martinis. YUM. A fruity drink that I like would be a sex on the beach.

Few of my faves -

- Stoli Orang (vodka) and seven with a twist of lime - by your 2nd/3rd, it takes almost like Tylenol baby aspirin!
- A REAL dirty Stoli martini straight up, shaken hard. (I usually tell the bartender I want it as 'dirrty as a whore' to stress my dirtiness preference!)

The most fruity drink I get would be a Chambord (sp?) Lemon Drop
