Got a chain letter(the snailmail kind) today. Pyramid scheme type.

Got one of those lame letters. Way too long to type it all, but basically there's six people listed. You send a dollar to the one on the top of the list, remove them add yourself in slot 6 and mail it to 6 people.
no idea who the person is that sent it to me.
So, is there a gov't agency I can report her to?

If you don't know who sent it to you, how do you know it's a her?

A-HA!

What can be done about chain letters, pyramid marketing schemes, or spam?

Chain letters, pyramid marketing schemes, and foreign lottery solicitations are examples of fraud involving the U.S. Mail, and fall under the jurisdiction of the Postal Inspection Service. Inspectors may seek prosecutive or administrative action against a violator, with the support of the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Unfortunately, most crimes of this nature are resolved without a refund or restitution to the victim. If you believe you’re a victim of fraud that involves the U.S. Mail, file a mail fraud report with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
these kind of people suck, plus the fact that some stranger mailed it to me creeps me out

Mail her back a Nigerian Email as a letter with some changes to fit the situation. Like you need her to send you 50 cents so that you may be able to cover the fees to get the $1 to her or something :)

Here are some sample letters, get creative

Anyone asking for a dollar after sending a 39 cent letter is a serious fricken moron :)
