Help with my mustang...............

Ok guys I need alittle help before I call the local ford dealership and (maybe )spend a lot of money.. I have a 2000 ford mustang, non GT that I just had to put a new battery in today and now it wont turn over. My ex, who replaced the battery for me thinks it is the anti theft system . It may need to be reset but when we tried what the ford service guy told us to do it didnt work. car still wont start. soooo what should I do next?? BTW the theft light in the dash is flashing and something is running on the right hand side in the wheelwell (sp?)

I would be more than happy to answer any questions on what we have tried so far...

It won't even turn over?

My first thought it was turning over would be the fuel pump switch in the trunk.

If the sound is coming from the inside of the front wheelwell...not really sure. Check the hood alarm tab. Its a small black rubber thing (circular). If its indented (stuck)...might be your problem. Never heard of that not letting the car turn over though.

sounds like an antitheft device.. you might need to enter some kind of code to disable it.. go to the dealer..if that's all it is it should not cost you anything

already check the fuel pump switch its ok.

The service guy at the dealer ship agrees its the anti theft but what he told us to do to get it reset hasnt worked..*sigh* I'm trying to avoid going to the dealer...it would involve getting the car towed and I really want to avoid that if possable...

I would think that whoever installed the anti-theft device should send someone to you to fix it if, in fact, that is what is causing the problem.

Are you using the same key?

Many newer cars keys have a chip in them. Chip is changed or tampered with and the car won't even turn over. Just another thought.
