Stuck in Reno - Yipes!

Long story, but I came to Reno last night on business, and as I find out today, I was misinformed as to the schedule. Now I'm stuck. Can't fly home due to lack of flights and the expense of grabbing one of the few.

So I'm at the El Dorado, I'm already down $200 on VP and those damn WoF slots (thanks to the filthy bar video poker machines at Cal Nevada for keeping me from being down much, much more), and I'm bored senseless. I could walk around a bit, but I <3 not being murdered.

So what's the drill? I'll throw away a few more bucks if needed. Is there anything fun to do in Downtown Reno? Decent clubs, bars, etc? My guess is no, and I'll try to find a Pai Gow Poker table to milk for a few hours. I guess I'll give the Brew Pub here in the hotel a shot as well. Blargh.

By the way, at the risk of being banished from this forum, I don't really play poker , so that's out.

You had me until the last sentence. Of course I was going to recommend poker! Easiest way to kill a few hours with a limited bankroll.

Why not give the game a try? 2/4 limit with a buy in of $100 should keep you busy. Personally, I like playing at the Reno Hilton. There is a Johnny Rockets there for good burgers, and lots of restaruants and bars.

Other then that, I'm sure if you stay toward the downtown area, the hotels will have some bar/club action, but I am not privy to that.

Good luck!

Sorry man. That is a shit hole of a place. I'm sure there are some dirty strip clubs around. Nothing like seeing some fat broads showing their jubblies.

Try the potato bar at the Silver Legacy. Just don't get Munsoned on your way there.

mad dawg,

head to "The Nugget" across the street from Harrah's for the best (and cheapest) burger & garlic fries in the city

Then piss away the day watching sports in the Silver Legacy sportsbook

You can also find $3 BJ in some of the shithole casinos but possibly not on Sat. night.

Thanks guys. I ended up going back to Cal Nevada, played some blackjack, and caught on at a $3 Craps table all night. Didn't win, but I didn't lose. Then I grabbed a couple of Filet Mignons (and I, as they apparently, use the term very loosely, but it got the job done) for $10 at Harrahs. I'm still deciding whether to go back downstairs and grab another drink or two. This town gives shitholes a bad name, but, dammit, I had some fun.

Best part about that place is that it treats me like a king. I get free rooms in the biggest little shithole in the world!

$2/$4 at the Peppermill, easy pickins. $60 is all I need to buy in.
