R2D2 Toy

I know, I'm a big kid (or geek), but this is pretty cool. I can't get him to move too much as he doesn't respond well to those (move) commands. If anyone else has one, let me know how its working out. They have lots at Costco.

That's cool, but I'm still waiting for the hologram game that C-3PO and Chewbacca play on the Millenium Falcon. I hear it comes complete with an interactive Chewbacca that really rips your arm out of its socket if he loses!

I've had that thing for two years now. Tons of fun and he does work. If he doesn't, just hit him on the head. It's definitely fun to show off if friends come over.

Do you find that he doesn't take well the "move" commands? Still can't get him to "Time Out" either.

Yeah he's pretty funny and plan to show him to friends who come over.

How big is the thing? I skimmed the site but didn't see any dimensions listed.

It's over 15" tall. Pretty tall actually and a decent size. Worth picking up

Sure they're fun now but wait until they rise up and enslave humanity.

I've had this for several years. The trick with the voice command is to speak loudly, slowly, and enunciate. He's got pretty good voice recognition. My biggest problem was remembering the command structure. Everyone loves his "dance program".

I have one and found that you need to
speak slowly and he should work, try this.
say: Hey R2 reset, and then after he does try Hey R2, do you remember, Darth Vader and he should make his svared sound.

I saw a demo of him and the "remember Darth Vader" bit was hysterical.

I remember when I first got mine. I was having fun doing all the commands and stuff it can do. And after about an hour of playing with it nonstop, I left it alone to see what it would do. A few minutes go by, and my girlfriend got up to get a drink and the damn thing followed her.

She thought it was just doing whatever until she walked back to the living room, and it followed her back. She got all creeped out thinking it was possessed, and she was trying to get away from it, but everywhere she went, it followed.

Turns out that if you leave it alone for a bit, it will follow the first person it picks up on its sensors. I though it was hilarious as we didn't know that it did this.

I wonder how my cat would take to something like that. Actually, I wonder if the cat would totally fuck it up, being followed around.

When you said that, for some reason I had a mental picture of C3-PO doing that!

I got one of these a couple years ago and I'm still impressed by some of the things it does. I actually like it better than RoboSapien. I even bought my dad an R2 because he has always liked gadgets.

Unfortunately, my 20 month old daughter is scared as hell of the thing so I had to hide it. The first time I got it out with her around, she started crying and screaming and would not stop until it was out of sight. I'm thinking about using it as a time-out enforcer when she gets older since this deep fear of it already exists.

Just kidding.
