Laser hair removal

Anybody have any luck with any of these places? Anything to look out for?

My mom had it done and it went well but she did end up with some areas that stayed extra sensitive for a bit longer than they should have. I would just make sure that you go somewhere good and not somewhere cheap.

Good luck to you, you hairy ape!

What is the approximate cost per session that I should be looking for?

Also, could this be covered by FSA? It's purely cosmetic, but so is orthodontic treatments, and that is covered by FSA.

The laser ones you have to go to multiple times. Usually 3 sessions, maybe 4 if you are a hairy monkey like I am.

I'm not sure. Not being a hairy person myself, it's not something I've looked into. Plus I would guess there would be a huge difference between Portland prices and Chicago prices. If it were me, I would want to go to a medical place to have it done, maybe an upscale spa? We have a great medical spa in our area that does stuff like that as well as cosmetic surgery.

As for it being covered, good luck! I have no clue what FSA is...is that your insurance?

I would seriously doubt this is covered by a FSA.

Yeah, I don't think it would be covered by FSA, but thought I'd give it a try.

As for the region ... it's right behind my neck that is driving me crazy. It's probably what the specialists would call a 'small region'.

I think that is called your back.

Sorry I can't help, I have failed as a metrosexual. I"d be curious to see how much laser treatment would be.

Just called the FSA administrator ... it's not covered. I didn't think it would be, but it was worth a shot.

That's what I'm thinking. Too bad the FSA rules are set by the IRS, and the IRS only employs hairy old men.

Back in '99 this friend (girl) told me about using laser on her legs so she'd never have to shave again. We talked a lot about it and I thought just for the heck of it I'd go in for a free "test". What's silly is that I wanted to do this on my face. I didn't really want to have complete removal, but a softening because I get a freakin' shadow at noon. This was a professional place in an upscale part of town. I realized after one THWACK that I'd never ever go through with that treatment two times on my face. She zapped my chin area three times and it felt like someone stretched out a taught rubber band and let loose with the fury of hell.

Of course, I had a first date a couple of days later and actually told the date why my chin was so red. We didn't go out again (lol).

I just buy Mach3 blades on Ebay now!

I went to a place here in Chicago on the Gold Coast. They are going to get back to me on price, but I think it'll be in the $1k range. They want 8-9 treatments (yeahhhh riiiiight ).

I'm going to shop around. I'm pretty sure I don't need 8 treatments.

That's about right man. I think a normal laser session is about $150 or so.

Man, if I had laser hair, I'd never get it removed. Laser hair would totally rock!

I actually have my 4th appointment to get my back zapped this weekend. There's been a ton of threads about this (i think most have been started by hirsute kvrdave) so I'd recommend doing a search. My deal was 5 treatments for $900 (but it was a buy 3 get 2 free deal)

I've been getting my full face + neck done because I have a horrible problem with ingrown hairs. I got a package deal from Advanced Laser Clincs. Half off of the normal $1500 price for five treatments, plus a two-year guarantee.

I've had seven treatments, and will be going back for an eighth soon. There is defintely less hair, but there is still hair.

How many treatments you need depends on the part of the body. A face will require more than a back would. I'd guess that your neck would probably be similar to a face. It depends on the density, color and thickness of the hair.

Also remember that hair follicles are inactive for a long time, and they can't kill inactive follicles. If a hair isn't active during any treatment, it won't be killed.
